Ok here is what's happening after I press play from the remote and stop one minute later with serviio 1.3.1. During this one minute of watching, I got 2 lines of text rendered to the screen although there should've been ~dozen more. Serviio 1.2.1 has no problem with rendering all the lines of this file with identical settings. And by the way, SOME file+sub combinations work just fine with 1.3.1, but there are way too many of these cases when subs work improperly.

Is there an expected delivery date? if not a beta?

Im very interested in getting thumbnails working on my samsung, they are sorely missed.

Thanks

zip, did that log tell you anything about our subtitle problem so that we could await a fix in the future?

Sorry, missed that.

From the log it looks like it's a .sub file, right? What is the encoding of the .sub file? Make sure it's UTF-8.
Not sure why it worked in 1.2.1, but it might be related to the FFmpeg. You could try to use 1.2.1 FFmpeg in your 1.3.1 installation.

Yes on this instance it was a .sub, but it happened with .srt files too. I viewed the .sub file with FireFox, it stated the encoding as "Western (Windows-1252)".

So I changed the encoding to UTF-8. ...and then it showed through 1.3.1 with all the lines. But all the scandinavian characters like "å, ä, ö" were rendered as pure carbage. So that didn't really help me as a scandinavian all that much.

Okay, then I copied ffmpeg.exe from 1.2.1 "lib"-directory to the "lib"-directory of 1.3.1 installation and suddenly all the original western encoded subtitles started working again via 1.3.1! (though UTF-8 encoded were still carbage). Do you know are there going to be any drawbacks, missing features or odd behavior if I use this 1.2.1's ffmpeg.exe with 1.3.1 installation? The 1.3.1 installation is on my second computer just for these problem solving purposes at the moment. UTF-8 seems like a no go encoding for us finns, swedish, norwegian, icelandic and danish people if we want subs in our language to be rendered properly, so some other workaround is quite mandatory.

Re: support serie F (2013)

UTF-8 should support all the special characters, maybe you didn't do the conversion properly?
FFmpeg from 1.2.1 should be ok. 1.4 will take into account the encoding you set in the console for external subtitles too, so it should help.

Maybe I didn't, I don't know. I just opened it in the wordpad and saved it as a .txt file with UTF-8 encoding from the pull down menu and then renamed the file extension from .txt back to .sub. In any case converting each misbehaving external subtitle file one by one is tedious work, let's all hope 1.4 solves this for good.

i can see and browse my folders with media content, but when i trying to open any of them (final folders which contain's media files) the message "Request cannot be completed. MEDIA PLAY will return to the main screen" comes on!
All settings are same for both of my TV's, but another one (E-series) work's very good with Serviio.

this is a weird issue that ive seen. its strange because i have 4 hdds running in one 4xhdd enclosure, and i can go into folders for one of the hdds, but not the others. and even though i cant go into the folders, i can play the files inside those folders if i go through "titles" dynamic folder in serviio. i wonder if its the hardware causing the problem, or samsung. i cant imagine its serviio for this, but i wouldnt know.

I have this problem with my f series , although you cannot access movies via the folders you can use the a-z movie 'title' option to locate, and then the movie will play.

Re: support serie F (2013)

I don't know WHAT can i do else for dealing this problem.........
my another tv (E-series) still working properly with serviio!
And, by the way, the E-series TV work's well under both profiles (C/D and E/F)!!!!!

Re: support serie F (2013)

Today I have received my new Samsung tv (F6500 series). I am using Serviio and everything is working great but not the thumbnails. They are shown but with the wrong aspect ratio. I have set the profile Samsung "TV/Player (E/F-series)". Am I doing anything wrong?

BTW, happy new year!!!

Can you post a screenshot? Perhaps it's how the TV works.

Hello

I've bought a Samsung serie F TV and I use Serviio 1.40 with standard profile configuration: this TV is recognized by Serviio as 'Generic DLNA profile'

It doesn't matter where the media is coming from (USB-drive, Allshare etc.) or if they are thumbnails of movies or pictures, the TV seems to automatically fill the thumbnails, so they usually will be stretched or reduced vertically depending if they are created from a screenshot or from a DVD cover for example. Though somehow I can't see this being a bothering problem at all.

Re: support serie F (2013)

Hello guys,

I'm posting here not to create another F-series thread... please, help me get the subtitles working.

What I have:

Macbook Pro OSX 10.8.5
Seviio-Console (can run this)
Seviio.app (double clicking on it won't open the app, does it need to open?)
Time Capsule for WIFI (and later maybe storage if I get this going)
Samsung TV UE55F8000
and
Samsung BluRay Player BDP-F6500-ZF
Yamaha RX-S600 receiver
Trendnet switch to cable-connect TV, Bluray and Yamaha to Time Capsule, Macbook Pro uses WIFI

What is not working: Subtitles.

I have tried playing movies from Macbook with smart functionality of both, the TV and BluRay player and with both, I can select Serviio and browse to the content, play movies but there is no subtitle selection. As I mentioned, the Serviio-Console can be opened and there I have selected "Enable subtitles" under Delivery > Subtitles. But no Subtitles selection on TV player :/ Same movie copied to USB stick plays subtitles just fine (an subtitles selection appears in the TV media player).

What am I missing here?

Thanks!

Re: support serie F (2013)

Hi,

Just a quick one, as I've recently purchased an F Series TV. A couple of points, more to do with the TV than Serviio. I have 3 Samsung's, a B Series, an E Series and the new F Series.
Serviio works great with all of them (and the Phillips that the F Series has replaced) and their differing levels of built in codecs etc. With the new F series, It doesn't display the "Last Added" videos in the order that they were last added. It shows them in Alphabetical order, not an issue, just not as easy as the B/E Series. If I set the TV to display them by Date it just sits there and Crashes the TV. Has anyone else experienced this? Latest firmware is installed and its a UE60F6300.

Thanks,
Adam

It was the adding Profiles function I was missing for you guys in the same position that I was in. http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=ser ... _explained

Re: support serie F (2013)

Sorry for the late response, here is the screenshot. You can see how the thumbnails are stretched, probably the TV should check the resolution of the thumbnails and draw them with some kind of frame.

I think that serviio should create custom thumbnails for each client device, using the profile settings.
