1.4 will support thumbnails on the F series, but it's still a few months away from release.

Thanks for the update. Just out of curiosity - Do you have to create a work around for something Samsung broke ie. They're not adhering to the DLNA specifications? Any idea whether Samsung made a mistake or whether they've decided to ignore certain aspects of the DLNA spec?

Re: support serie F (2013)

Country: (if that matters) Sweden (no figure ;))
TV: Samsung UE46F6475 (w. firmware: v.1111)
Serviio Server v. 1.3.1 (running on my NAS, Zyxel NSA325)
Serviio Console v. 13.1 (running on my laptop - Windows 7 x64)

Serviio Console running on all default settings except (or so I believe)
Delivery -> Subtitles -> Enabled subtitles (checked)
Everything else in that tab is unchecked.

Having problems with Serviio not finding .srt files that are the exact name as the movie (and in the same folder) as well as not generating thumbnails.

Will help in any capacity I can as long as I get some instructions :)

Select correct profile for your TV: Status -> Profile -> Samsung TV /Player (C/D/E/F-series)

Thanks!
Didn't even know you can change that.
Did that now and now it detects my .srt file :D
The weird thing is that it still does not render a thumbnail for my movies, if I go into the webinterface it does that.

Also I only have the option of having subtitles "On" or "Off", earlier I had the choice of different languages since they are embedded in the .mkv. Now this option has disappeared.

If there are external subtitles present, you can't choose internal subtitles.

Ah then I see :)
And as per zip:s post at the top of this thread:
http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?uid=14340&f=10&t=10460&start=60#p80185
thumbnails are not supported on v.1.3.1 and will be available first on v.1.4 as I understand it?

The latest firmware seems to be 1112.2 released 2013.09.26.
Just FYI. If you need any logs etc. I'd be happy to help since you will be helping us :)
Just need instructions on how to use Wireshark which I guess is what you will be looking at (i.e. communication from Serviio Server to/from the TV).

(Needless to say, Samsung did not comply with the DLNA-standard on this update either so no thumbnails.)

A question though, even though I can't see any thumbnails I can't see any other files except for the .mkv etc. in my watched folders, does Serviio work so that it just fetches thumbnails through the internet and does not need to save them locally or should I regardless see some sort of other file that contains metadata with my movies and series?

When I am asking: One file did not show up when I tried to watch it, if I renamed it then it shows up, ehm it was a filename for an episode with a lot of dots like (S01E01 - Args... Args.. Args....mkv). Renamed it S01E01 - Test.mkv and then it found it and automatically fetched the correct episode name for it even though it was named S01E01 - Test.mkv (so Serviio / Samsung saw it as S01E01 - Args... Args... Args....mkv). Guess that the name of the .mkv simply did not work due to the many dots?

Edit: Ah yes. Replace "dots" with "periods". At this hour my english is not at its best.

Re: support serie F (2013)

Tried updating to 1.3 some weeks ago -> not working. Went back to 1.2 and everything was fine. Now finally tried 1.3.1 but the subtitles are not showing. Or they show up every now and then, but not working like they should. I think I need to go back to 1.2. again :x

Don't enable burned-in subtitles, the Samsungs will show the external ones fine. Make sure you have the right profile to see the subs.

Yes, correct profile selected (F-series) and no burned in subtitles. Not working for some reason. Just went back to 1.2.1 and everything is working fine with Samsung C/D/E -profile. What I didn't try was 1.3.1 with C/D/E -profile.

Re: support serie F (2013)

I am trying to stream some 60fps 1080p m2ts files (recorded with my camcorder) from my Serviio to my F series 32" Samsung TV.

The message on the TV clearly says that 60fps is no supported, and according to the TV's specs the TV does not support this frame rate for that particular container type and resolution.

is there anyway I can maybe let Serviio transcode those files to 30fps so I can stream them to the TV ?

Thanks !

Nobody else has this problem? Again went and installed 1.3.1, C/D/E/F -series profile, no burned in subtitles. Subtitles show up once in couple of minutes, one line and then they are gone for couple on minutes. Always the same line are missing/showing.

Edit: Again, back to 1.2.1 and everything is working fine. Only problem is that I need to restart my computer every now and then, because serviio doesn't show up in the sources in Samsung.

This might be a network issue (wifi?) or the way the files have been authored.

I have exactly the same problem with my E-series 7005 even with the C/D/E/F-profile set on. Also tried every possible combination of how to deliver the subtitles (I normally have subtitles on, extraction off, burned in off) but external subs just won't work albeit some (always same) lines here and there. And yes, they are named exactly after the main file itself e.g. "title01.mkv" -> "title01.srt".

Seems like a common problem across different Samsung models/generations which started at version 1.3 and should be fixed. Reverting back to 1.2.1 still seems to be the only fix for us.

Re: support serie F (2013)

I have very large number of files scattered around several network drives which index over wlan very very slowly. Therefore installing 1.3.1, creating detailed log, reverting back to 1.2.1 and reindexing all the files to the database is a full days project for me. Antinontoxic is there any way you could do this as it seems our problem is identical?
