I'm not sure Samsung still has that client/server product anymore. I'm not sure it was DLNA, and when I tried it once I immediately dumped it. You had to go to the computer and tell it to play the video on the TV. Made no sense to me. Ca't touch Serviio! :D

It seems that "Allshare" is not used anymore. I can still find it on the samsung czech web page (http://www.samsung.com/cz/allshare/), but I guess it's not what it used to be. Now they also have "Samsung Link" to link PC, TV, Tablet, Mobile, but dunno what features it supports. I have not studied it to more depth or tried it, but I can when I have time. I just remmember I tried it for a short time few years back and then found serviio which I use ever since :)

Well new FW 1442 was released about three days ago and it seems it fixed the internal subtitle issue. So internal and external subtitles work fine now.

I think there needs to be a dedicated J-series profile.

I have the same problem on Samsung UE55JU6572. Video files work but no subs appear. Samsung support says that the TV cannot show external subtitles, only embedded, however, this seems strange to me as the previous models could.

EDIT: After some negotiation, Samsung support admitted that the TV shoul support external subs and the the DLNA server is to blame.

I had the same problem and i solved doing what nexts:
At the serviio console, in the option "status", search for the IP of your TV. Then click Edit, and change it to your type of television. In my case Samsung TV - J Series. Restart the server and try again. By default it sets at Generic DLNA, and i think that is the problem.

Hope this solves your problem.
Regards.

aravorn wrote:Hi,

I always used Serviio to stream movies with SRT external subtitles. This has alwas worked perfectly on my 5-year old samsung 7-series (profile c/d series in serviio).
Now I have bought a new tv. Everything works fine exept for subtitles.

When I select the movie file in my Samsung TV it says *.mkv.mkv so somehow it gives double extension.
01.mkv and 01.srt in the same folder, to be sure I also created a 01.mkv.srt but that doesn't help.

Serviio version, just updated to last version: 1.5.2, still no subs.
Tv firmware updated to last version, reset to factory, doesn't help.

I know the TV supports SRT files because I tested it on a usb stick

Any ideas to make this work?

Works for me on Samsung TV QLED 50Q60A series G.
On Serviio dosen't have G series so i choose E/F series. Now works external subtitle play from network/usb

Tks for this tips.
