Weird problem - C5500 no longer plays HD MKVS

HI Folks,

I installed Serviio, .5 3 weeks ago when I first got my Samsung 5500 blue ray, and it has been great.

Today I went to play a new HD MKV, and it refused with unsupported file type, I first thought it was a duff file, but I get the same message with all HD MKVs, even one that played fine on Sunday !

I have also tested an SD AVI and that still plays OK.

Its not the deck as the files play OK off a USB stick, and also play fine using the Samsung DNLA software.

Since Sunday when the file played OK I have not done anything to the Samsung or to Serviio, but I think windows has done a few updates.

Any bright ideas most welcome

I suspect you have dynamic IP address on your player and the new IP address your player got doesn't have the proper profile. Check the console for the profile you're using.

Thanks for the reply.

Should have said I un-installed and re-installed serviio without sucess to try and fix the problem.

The status page says

server running

192.168.0.4 unregoniosed device Samsung C series Tv/Player
192.168.0.5 unregoniosed device generic dlna

Bound IP address blank

When I set up the software only the samsung device was present.

Any ideas on a fix ?

Thanks again

Put your laptop's IP address into the Bound IP field.

Re: Weird problem - C5500 no longer plays HD MKVS

Still no joy, I am not expert with IP adress etc so please feel free to tell me if I am an idiot.

I went into a DOS Prompt on my PC that runs serviio and has the MKV files on, type IPCONFIG, and it gave an ip address of

192.168.0.2, which I put in the bound IP box.

I have for my device on the consul

192.168.0.4 Un-recognised Samsung C series.

Save it and still got the same message. I also tried setting the bound IP to the 192.168.0.4 as the Samsung has but that does not work either.

Am I being an idiot ?

Many thanks

Bound IP is the IP of the laptop, you did it correctly the first time. Can you post detailed log?

I think (?!) I have solved it. I get three devices listed in the status, If, one is set to the Samsung by default, if I force the other 2 to be Samsungs from the default of generic it seems to work ?

Happy to post a detailed log - can't see this option in the consul ?

Thanks again

Every time your router assigns a different ip address, it will show as an unrecognized device with a generic profile.
I think my list is up to 5 entries. I had to change them to the Samsung profile each time a new one showed up.
I have not bothered to delete any of them and everything on my LAN seems to working OK with the extra entries still listed.
My Linksys router tends to lock up under severe loads (a known problem) and I have to power cycle it several times a week.
