Samsung Series KU isn't on the list/Subtitles issues

Hi,

I have Samsung UE50KU7000 and when I play avi files or MKV files with srt subtitles I get no subtitles.
I'm currently using the generic profile as there's no series K on the list.
I'd appreciate your help to resolve it.

thanks

Hi,

This wown't help but I feel your pain !

I have two Samsung Tv's and the newer model works fine with *.srt files.

The older one doesn't show the option to switch on subtitles.

If its interesting I can dig out the model numbers.

Re: Samsung Series KU isn't on the list/Subtitles issues

From http://serviio.org/index.php?option=com ... icle&id=33:
Some of the devices support subtitles out-of-the box, delivered as a text file. Some devices do not have any support for subtitles and require them to be burned into the video stream (hardsubs), thus effectively transcoding the video with the text on the screen.

So, you could have to enable the burn-in subtitles option on Serviio console to get it.

Just use the J profile, it should work.

Re: Samsung Series KU isn't on the list/Subtitles issues

Hi all,

I have a UE55KU6072 and same thing - no subtitles. I use external .srt files. VLC player plays them perfectly on my PC but not on the TV. Subtitles are turned on both in the TV and in the Serviio settings.

What is a "J profile" that people use that helps?

Thanks!

Profiles are selected in the console on the Status page. Look for your TV in the list of connected devices, then click the edit button on the right. Change your profile (it's a drop down selection box) to the Samsung J profile and click OK. Once back on the Status page, hit the save button at the bottom of the page. Don't forget the second save or it doesn't take effect. No reboot or restart of Serviio is necessary.
