Subtitle not working on Samsung TV H5500

Hi,

I am a recent convert to Serviio and for many years I've been using MiniDLNA. MiniDLNA never missed any subtitle to be shown on my Samsung TV H5500 but the same video with the same subtitle wouldn't show on the TV using Serviio. If I play the video on my mobile using BubbleUPnP as Serviio server, it renders the subtitles correctly on my mobile screen.

Any help is highly appreciated.

TIA

Re: Subtitle not working on Samsung TV H5500

MediaInfo details for the file?
Are the subtitles in a separate file or embedded in the media file?
What are your Subtitle settings in Serviio Console?
Which profile are you using for the Samsung?
When MiniDLNA played the subtitles, were they selectable via your remote (ie. could you turn them on or off, or were they always on - this may indicate that MiniDLNA was burning them in)?

Are the subtitles in a separate file or embedded in the media file?
Subtitle is in a separate SRT file. There's no builtin subtitle.

What are your Subtitle settings in Serviio Console?
Enable subtitles (enabled)
Enable extraction of text-based subtitles embedded in video files (disabled)
Try to automatically detect subtitle character encoding (enabled)
Character encoding: UTF-8
Burn-in subtitles (disabled)
Enable retrieve from opensubtitle (enable and provided my account info)

Which profile are you using for the Samsung?
Generic DNLA Profile

When MiniDLNA played the subtitles, were they selectable via your remote (ie. could you turn them on or off, or were they always on - this may indicate that MiniDLNA was burning them in)?
I do not know if MiniDNLA burns the subtitle in or not but I know MiniDNLA takes roughly around 2-5% of CPU on my very old dual core processor laptop. So guessing it isn't burning in.
