Problems playing 3D MKV on PN50C8000 TV and C5900 Bluray
I'm having problems playing some files on my Samsung TV and Bluray player and I need some help.
I have two different 3d mkv files. They are SBS files, so I can open them in normal players on my computer. When streaming it to the TV I just have to choose "side by Side" on 3D menu and bingo: 3D Video
Ok, here is the thing: One file I can play on both my Bluray Player and on my TV. The second file I can play only on my Bluray.
The deal is that I must play these videos from my TV because only the TV can correctly insert the .srt subtitles while playing 3D movies. The TV understands that it's a 3D video but with a “2D” subtitles, so when I turn the “Side by Side” 3D mode it changes the video image to 3D and but let the subtitles correctly centered.
If I play this same movie from my Bluray player, the TV receives the image with included subtitles and can't differentiate the movie from the inserted subtitles. When I turn the 3D mode on, the TV scrambles the subtitles.
So in order to get .srt subtitles showing correctly, I must play the 3D movie from the TV.
I already got the information about both videos. They are pretty much the same. Same codec, same library. The only differences (except from movie size) are these:
===============================================================
Video 1 - Runs on Bluplayer (BD-C5900) and Runs on TV (PN50C8000)
Overall bit rate : 6 022 Kbps
Bit rate : 5 838 Kbps
Frame rate : 23.976 fps
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.117
Video Stream size : 1.73 GiB (97%)
Audio Stream size : 19.4 MiB (1%)
===============================================================
Video 2 - Runs on Bluplayer (BD-C5900) - Doesn't run on TV (PN50C8000)
Overall bit rate : 6 819 Kbps
Bit rate : 6 619 Kbps
Frame rate : 47.952 fps
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.067
Video Stream size : 1.89 GiB (97%)
Audio Stream size : 18.7 MiB (1%)
===============================================================
I *think* that the problem may be the frame rate. The second movie has a 47.952 fps. I believe this is related to 3D, since 47.952 = 2x 23.976, so each eye would have 23.976 fps.
Note that the first video is also 3D but have a framerate of 23.976
Like I wrote, I need to play this file from the TV or else I won't have working subtitles. What can I do?
Some questions:
1) PN50C8000 TV and BP-C5900 both uses the "Samsung TV / Player (C/D-Series)" profile but, as shown above, they can play different videos files. Shouldn't they have different profiles to reflect that?
2) Is there a way to edit the TV Profile in order to transcode files with a framerate bigger than 29 fps (Like I said, I'm guessing this is the issue here)? Is it possible to serviio transcode and change the framerate on the fly?
3) How does Serviio deals with subtitle when transcoding? It keeps the subtitle and video information separated or it includes the .srt subtitle in the video like a "hard subtitle"? If it includes the subtitle image on the video (like a hardsub) I’ll have the same problem that I have when playing the video from my Bluray Player.
(Sorry about the poor english)
Thanks
