Serviio

Hi ,
My new Samsung TV can not see HEIC files from the serviio console.
I have read Serviio does not support HEIC. Is this correct
Is there any plan for Serviio to support it

I had to look up HEIC, as I wasn't familiar with the format. It's apparently something that Apple created, and hasn't seen much adoption outside the Apple ecosystem. Since it uses the same codec as H.265 video, I would expect it wouldn't be difficult to adapt Serviio to process these files.

However, the problem becomes displaying the image on a player such as your TV. Since the TV doesn't support HEIC, the file would require transcoding. From what I can find online, FFmpeg does not currently support HEIF decoding. Until FFMPEG supports this format, there's nothing Serviio can do to make the images available on your Samsung TV.

I just checked and Samsung TVs since Tizen 6 can display HEIC files
So the limiting factor seems to be SERVIIO
