MKV's just stop playing

Got a bit of an issue with some files playing to a Samsung C and D series TV. A handful of them just stop playing and then immediatley start playing the next one in the library (so it's not a network connection issue). The thing to note is they always stop at the same point on both TVs. I've eliminated a problem with the files as they play fine from Serviio via DLNA through to a Boxee, so I think there's something in all the files which the Samsungs don't like. In both scenarios the server is serviio running on a synology NAS. I've checked all the obvious with the samsungs - they're definitley using the right profiles, I've turned on Detailed logging and at the part where they crash an error gets logged in the Serviio log:

<timestamp> [webserver] Serviio IO error Connection Reset.

It's worth noting I've noticed a pattern - the ones which stop playing are ones which you can't fast forward / fast rewind.

Here's an example of one which stops at about 18 mins in:

  Code:

Re: MKV's just stop playing

I am coping with the same problem. I also have Plex and I can agree that the problem might be caused by the TV as Plex playback also cuts off at the same time (when playing back the problematic MKVs). Pretty annoying :(

Re: MKV's just stop playing

I seem to have fixed the problem by renmaing my mkv's to avi. DTS sound seems to be preserved and the added bonus is i can fast forward and fast rewind. Bizarre but it works.

Does anyone have any idea whether this is something that can be solved by tweaking profiles.xml?

It would be much easier if I didn't have to go and manually change file names each time playback stops, this happens way too often lately - more than 50% of the videos I try watching break playback at some point.

Thanks.

Re: MKV's just stop playing

both mkv and avi ae passed to the TV natively, you could try to change MKV mime type to AVI.

Re: MKV's just stop playing

tried changing
  Code:
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/x-mkv">MATROSKA</MediaFormatProfile>

to
  Code:
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/x-msvideo" name="">MATROSKA</MediaFormatProfile>

But this changed nothing :-(

I guess I'm stuck with manually renaming files...

looks the same. Can you post detailed log of playing these 2 files? (one with .mkv and one with .avi)
