Problems streaming online content.

I have been using Serviio for just over a week now and I must say I love it. I would like to buy the license to keep the Pro version for the online library feature but unfortunately I have been having problems and I have only got about another 5 days to sort it out before Serviio reverts to the free version. It is not worth me buying the license for a feature I can't use so I hope someone can help me here.

I have a 2012 Samsung UE40ES6300 TV with the latest firmware (1031). I have Windows 7 with all the latest updates. I have my TV connected to the network via a network lead. I have Samsung C/D/E series set as my profile in Serviio. I can stream any video on my pc with Serviio with no errors. If I play any type of online content I have problems. The video always shuts off around 2 minutes before the end. I will either get a message saying 'Please check your network connection.', or I will get a message saying 'Device disconnected. Device name Serviio (Russ-PC)' the TV then kicks out to the source I was watching on the TV before switching to Serviio.

I have tried various online feeds using the plugins and I have subscribed to the Tekzilla podcasts via RSS. The Tekzilla Weekly podcasts are usually around 30 minutes long each yet if I press the info button Serviio has added 289 hours to the length of the episode and it normally disconnects and kicks out after playing around 28 minutes. If I try and watch a Tekzilla daily episode which are usually around 3 minutes long each it normally kicks out after playing around a minute. I did try using the Samsung A Series profile in Serviio and whilst it still kicked out before the end, when pressing the info button on the remote, Serviio has only added an hour to the length of the video. This would suggest to me that the Samsung C/D/E profile isn't 100% compatible with the latest 2012 ES series TVs. Another strange thing is if I watch a 4OD video I get the same problem but even more strange if I try and watch the same video again I get an error message saying the selected file is currently not supported, even though I have already streamed it with Serviio.

I have read other posts on here by people with similar problems regarding online content not playing to the end, and I have tried the things people have suggested. I have switched off streaming in Windows Media Player and I set a value to serviio.advertisementDuration. I think I did this right I just added -Dserviio.advertismentDuration=1800 to the JAVA_OPTS line in the serviio.bat file.

If i watch a channel on Sky Sport Plus using the Sky Sport Plus plugin that seems to play ok. When I press info it does not display a time, I guess this is because it is a live stream. This would suggest that the problem is with the extra time added to the length of the video. Has any users wriiten their own profile for the 2012 ES series? I am guessing it is to do with the profile because the C/D/E profile adds 289 hours to the length and the A series profile will only add 1 hour to the same video, so eith the profile is reading the duration wrong or it is causing the TV to read it wrong.

I hope someone can help with this, as I said I would really like to keep the Pro version for the online streaming feature if I can get it working correctly.

Re: Problems streaming online content.

I suggest you post 1 or 2 stream urls that others can try, along with a DEBUG log of when you played them.

Re: Problems streaming online content.

Hi thanks for your reply.

I deleted the Serviio log and turned on DEBUG and played one online stream to try and keep the log as small as possible but it is too big to attach. I did not know what parts of the log are important to you for trouble shooting so I didn't want to edit it. You can read the complete log by clicking on this link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ugzj576d0nj7sio/DEBUG.log Just click on the link, click download, click open and it will open in Notepad.

This is an RSS URL which will give you a list of episodes. Each episode runs for around 30 minutes but on my TV they show as being 289:21:06 and they usually shut off around 28 minutes. This is what I used for the DEBUG log.

http://revision3.com/tekzilla/feed/MP4-hd30?subshow=false

This is a WebContent URL which you use with the 4OD plugin. Each episode is around 47 minutes long but on my TV they show as being 578:42:13 and they usually shut off around 44 minutes.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: Problems streaming online content.

OK I have been playing around with this and I tried using different profiles in Serviio. I tried the Sony AVReceiver STR profile and played an episode of Tekzilla, online RSS stream. When I did the TV showed the correct duration for the stream :D, the progress bar moved as the video played :D, I could use the left and right arrow keys on the remote to skip forward and backwards in the stream :D and the video played to the end and then automatically played the next video :D. None of this is possible for online streaming when using the Samsung C/D/E series profile.

Now for the bad news. When using the Sony profile it will not play MKV files and it will not play any of the other files in my online library, Kelby TV RSS and 4OD using the 4OD plugin. The fact that when using the Sony profile the TV does show the correct time for the Tekzilla streams and plays them all the way to the end, plus gives me the functionality I have when streaming from my pc, surely shows that the Samsung C/D/E profile is not 100% compatible with newer Samsung TVs such as with my 2012 UE40ES6300 set.

Is there anyone on this forum who knows more about this then me who can tell what it is about the Sony AVReceiver STR profile that allows the TV to read the duration of online feeds correctly that I can adopt and put in the Samsung C/D/E profile? I really want to try and get this sorted so as I can buy the License to use the online streaming feature. I only have a couple of days left of the trial.

Re: Problems streaming online content.

Have you solved these problems?
I played yesterday few hours some youtube songs (top 100 music) and discovered next:

beside Sony also Denon profile SOMETIMES playes music songs without disconnections. Weird is that: SOMETIMES. I can't figure out why sometimes .
But I figured out next: when started, time is showed also wrong, not real time of duration... when is showed: 289:21:06 then it will stop with error message some 30-60 seconds before end, if it is showed as 0:10:xx (also incorrect time) song will play without interruption and will start next song.... but this is true for some online contents, not every, and also not always same for same song... SOMETIMES 289.21.... sometimes 0:10:xx
Tonite, will try to disable flv transcoding and see what's difference...

I ask people who own Samsung ES and EH serie to send me private message and make team, so we can start together investigating (not only Serviio, also other DLNA servers and see how they handle this) and try to write proper profile for Servio and Samsung E serie TV's :)
Thx
