Unknown content on seviio network...ie Porn

Hi, First time user, not sure if i have the terms correct, so ill give you all the last bit of details that i can...bear with me.

I have a sony kdl w 5810 and ex403. A dell laptop, with the serviio download and an external desktop hard drive. I have two issues.
The one i dont mind is: i find serviio or my tvs are very tempermantal, sometimes i can see the icons for the movies othertimes the folders read"there are no items to disply".

The one problem i cant seem understand is. There are various icons relating to contact that i dont know where its come from.
From this there are a few clips of porn. the content on my hard drives (fims music etc) has been put on there by a freind/collegue etc. So my first thought was its been copied over from them. Also i thought maybe its from phones that i have had in the past and some content has bounced from my cell phone to my laptop.

So i dissconnected my external hd. still the content(i considered on the one porn clip for now) is showing on both tvs its Mpeg format. It plays on the 403 but not on the 5810.
I also tried searching the film name on my laptop, nothing.

i have unchecked the hidden files box on serviioo, nothing.

Now the wife thinks the clips are something that i have used...maybe i said. But if it was me then id KNow where and how to gat rid surely.

the other things clips of windows pages/shows/ for about 30secs long.

theres a teenage lad next door, could serviio be picking somthing up from next doors wireless?

can i find out where this content is located and delete.

ANy help/pointers would be great. thanks
vj

This particular clips file name begins with A. The first thing my kids see in TITLES under A is this picture of this pasty ass as soon i try to put a movie on LOL.

ahh... problems with wife, I feel for you :-)

Anyway, is the file really porn or is it just named like one? Try to find the video in the Folders category, then you'd know where it is on your harddrive. Also note that removed files will disappear from Serviio within 1 hour, not immediatelly. And if it's on the remote drive they might not at all (if you unchecked the option for the shared folder in the console).

You could also search the log, it includes a list of added files, which would include the file path.

Hi Zip,

Thank you.

My Daughter has just asked "dad what is that big bum bum"....

So i went to folders on the tv and cant see it anywhere.

on the Library tag on console, i have unchecked "search for updates of shared files" i ll give it an hour or so.

I have also searched the full title of the clip in windows, no luck.

LOL!

Zip you are too nice.

Vj1 it is your porn. Don't blame your neighbour.

To my knowledge Serviio only finds media were you tell it to look. Search the directories on your computer that you told Serviio to look to find your media. Search your hard drives using *.filetype (avi, divx, xvid, mp4, etc.) for all the various video media on your computer.

I think you would be wise to remove this thread as it is ridiculous and only good fo a laugh.

Acutally it could if your share directory includes a link to another pc and permissions are active. That's why it's safer to serve off another PC than the one Serviio is installed on as such permissions would not propagate.

Re: Unknown content on seviio network...ie Porn

I know this post is old. But I was just surprised by the exact same problem. Being a 100% sure that I DON'T have any porn on my macbook.

So after scratching my head where these files are coming from and already thinking about a painfully akward conversation with my new neighboors I found what was actually causing it:

The option to "automatically download meta data" and "generate thumbnails". Because behind the videos where actually my content, just with totally wrong metadata. Disabling that option within the serviio client and "rescanning the video metadata" resolved the problem.

Hope this helps anyone being wrongfully accused by his wife - although I don't see anything wrong with it if you are indeed behind it :D

When gathering metadata from the Internet, file naming is crucial for accurate information. It doesn't take much to completely misidentify a title. If you really want to keep your online metadata, see this page for more information: http://www.serviio.org/index.php?option ... icle&id=12
