Is there any chances of in future to include MEncoder?

An example if I play a One hour 30 minute movie, it will use 100% of my CPU for about 30 minutes making my CPU temperature to rise very high
With ps3mediaserver along with MEncoder, same movie, it will use 100% CPU for the first 5 minutes and then drop down to under 10% keeping my CPU remain cool

This test is interesting.
Do you know mencoder option used compare to ffmpeg option used. Do you compare the two transcoded ouput files ?

The second reason I use ps3mediaserver is MEncoder plays the correct ratio every time when using "-vf softskip,expand=::::1:16/9,dsize=4/3" without messing with the remote to adjust to the correct ratio

The solution found with mencoder is known, we have to found the solution with ffmpeg.

Yes I think having custom aspect ratio configuring would help but doesn't help heavy CPU usage caused by ffmpeg which may be out of control with Serviio developers unless they include support for MEncoder and the end user can choose which they want as their default engine.

The way I tested it, qnap have a CPU usage viewer similar to the graphical display to Windows Task manager, as soon as the CPU goes down below 10% I monitored the time of the movie. On my system I've worked out about 35% of the movie length using ffmpeg on Serviio will use 100% of my CPU which can be daunting impact on my system
