S570 - No sound on some mp4's

I've got both a Sony S570 and S370. My S570 won't play the audio on some of my mp4's, but will play it on others. My S370 will play the audio fine on the ones the 570 won't. I'm on the latest version of the firmware (as of 3/1/2011) for both players and the Serviio .5.

Any ideas as to what's happening? I've not been able to find this problem in any of the forums.

Thanks,

Tim.

Re: S570 - No sound on some mp4's

Here are the particulars of the file that doesn't have audio on S570.

mpeg -i "1101 - Baseball Bugs.mp4"
FFmpeg version SVN-r25512, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers
built on Oct 18 2010 04:06:45 with gcc 4.4.2
configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-libgsm --enable-pthread
s --enable-libvorbis --enable-libtheora --enable-libspeex --enable-libmp3lame --
enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libopencore_amrwb --enable-

th --cross-prefix=i686-mingw32- --cc='ccache i686-mingw32-gcc' --enable-memalign
-hack
libavutil 50.32. 3 / 50.32. 3
libavcore 0. 9. 1 / 0. 9. 1
libavcodec 52.92. 0 / 52.92. 0
libavformat 52.83. 0 / 52.83. 0

libavfilter 1.52. 0 / 1.52. 0
libswscale 0.12. 0 / 0.12. 0

Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 29969.00 (299
69/1) -> 29.97 (30000/1001)

Re: S570 - No sound on some mp4's

Hi, I'm having the same issues with certain .mp4 files on the S570. I'm not sure, but I think it may be related to the fact that the file has 2 audio tracks (I'm only interested in the defaulted first audio track). Here's my ffmpeg output:
  Code:

Thanks for any help. To the OP, sorry to post this in your thread, but I assumed our problems are related.

Re: S570 - No sound on some mp4's

I'm not sure that h264 video with mp3 audio is a valid DLNA format, which may explain the problem. The profile you have used to cure the issue is transcoding the audio to ac3 regardless of type (for h264 in mp4 container), which is why it works. The stock profile doesn't do this because it tries to preserve the original audio stream as far as possible to avoid quality loss.

Re: S570 - No sound on some mp4's

Thank you for the explanation. I'm willing to resort to transcoding the audio, since I watch this show religiously. This was the only file I had (besides some divx files, which also now work) that the stock profile couldn't playback properly. I appreciate your insight with my former issue. Cheers.
