BDP S470 (europe) Stuttering

Hi all,

My BDP s470 cannot handle high bitrates, when going over 20/25 Mbps playback is stuttering.

Does anyone know if this is normal (yes, i've read the sticky) or what to do about it?

i have gigabit wired ethernet, so there is no problem with hardware (router Linksys WRT610N)
and i use Serviio 0.5.2

the video file is an MKV file , Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 )

Should i enhance the profile for BDP and put in a max. bitrate or something ?
(help on this part would be appreciated)

And yes, i totally love serviio.
(I als o have Panasonic P42G20E, but the BDP handles more video files)

clearly you failed to use the search box though.

- When video bitrate is expensive (>20Mbps), the TV (could) becomes unresponsive - doesn't react on remote commands any more.

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=425

that would including the stuttering as device becoomes unstable.

i think you judged too soon. I know how to operate a searchbox

I dont use a Bravia television like the topic you replied is implying , i use a Sony BDP(blu-ray player) with serviio, connected to a panasonic television P42G20

And i n the sticky something is mentioned about high bitrates for BDP's. But it is not clear to me what can or should be done about it.
I am not a pro-user yet i guess.

oppsiee my bad grabbed the wrong readme file :(

Although same applys with sony BDP so use of tsmuxer to lower bitrate is required.

Eh? You can't just adjust the bitrate of a file without re-encoding it, which TSMuxer cannot do.

As for the original question, I can play a sample 1080p 30Mbps file without stuttering on my BDP-S370, on a wired connection. Are you streaming over wifi perhaps?

Re: BDP S470 (europe) Stuttering

I also use a wired Gigabit ethernet network. (including router WRT 610N, computer and S470)
I am using the standard profile for BDP from serviio 0.5.2
And i get the stuttering when hitting above 36 Mbps.

Interesting to hear that it does work on your S370.
Then i might have a chance of fixing it.
your info makes me gonna check my hardware again.

PC --> switch --> router --> BDP

I use a router (Linksys WRT610N) and a cheap switch (sweex also gigabit) , maybe this is the culprit.
My linksys doesnot recognize the sweex as gigabit according to the led indicator... damn!

thanx for the info though

Re: BDP S470 (europe) Stuttering

I still also have stuttering issues with some high video bitrate movies with my two Bravia TV and BDP370.
I will check tonight but I think for example with than movie introduction (first minute) : http://divxtrailers.divx.com/BigBuckBun ... PlusHD.mkv

Re: BDP S470 (europe) Stuttering

The highest bitrate clip I have is about 30Mbps so it's quite likely you've found the limit of what the device can cope with over its LAN interface. Don't forget that it's only a 100Mbps Ethernet connection and it's unlikely to be a highly prioritised bus in the design of the system.

Re: BDP S470 (europe) Stuttering

isnt the problem because its an MKV? high bitrates 25M+ will stutter - and the only solution is playing them as M2TS - which serviio should do automatically if you enable transcoding - sorry i couldn't see a mention if you have transcoding enabled or not.

If your video has DTS audio and you want to keep it then use TSMUXER to convert it to M2TS.

edit - sorry my bad you talk about the 470 and i have a 370 - but maybe the same applies.
