Video in lost on using x264

Hi,

I have used to transcode and Xvid file to x264 (MP4 file, while adding subtitles).
On the Xvid I can fast-forward, rewind and pause the movie.
However, when trying the above with x264. The playback 'crash' , sometimes getting the message "playback is not available", and when I try to playback again there is only voice with black screen (no video).

I need to wait for quite long time (sometimes even a day, I don't know why is that probably some of the serviio temp files or the m2ts needs to be deleted) in order to play it from the start.

Please advise.

What is your device?
What is the serviio profile selected?

37EX505.
Using latest serviio with SONY profile.
The movie is x264 with AC3 so when I look at the log it seem ok, no 'codecing' just moving it to m2ts .

Has anyone encounter something similar ?

Could you post "ffmpeg -i" and "MediaInfo" result of your original x264/ac3 file? (see signature for links)

Re: Video in lost on using x264

This D:\my videos\greys anatomy\Greys.Anatomy.S07E18.HDTV.x264-LOL_HEB.mp4
is a MP4 container with AVC/x264 video and AC3 audio.
With the Sony Profile selected, this file must be remuxed into MPEGTS/x264/AC3.
If video crashed, this is probably due to the x264 encoding options used that were not supported by Sony.
Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:0:0 / analyse=0x3:0x133 / me=hex / subme=7 / psy=1 / psy_rd=0.90:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=1 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=2 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / weightb=1 / open_gop=1 / weightp=2 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=23 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=40 / rc=crf / mbtree=1 / crf=16.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00

I used to say this is b_pyramid=2 , but I'm not sure 100%
You have to reencode the original...

Re: Video in lost on using x264

Illico.

Tried it with b_pyramid=1 and b_pyramid=0 . Didn't work.

If you have SONY TV , you can easily check it even with a short/small file/movie size (play, pause , and then play it again or rewind).

Return to Sony
