matt666 wrote:The MKV I tried seems to be worse at fast forwarding than the E/S/ST/VT 2011 profile I was using. Is that because the 2013 profile sends direct to the TV and the 2011 transcodes on the PC?
Hmmm - generally natively delivered files handle ff better than transcoded files. It could be that the MKV wasn't formed correctly - search for clusters-in-meta-seek in google and this forum. Some MKV's and systems need this option set when encoding.
but now I can't choose audio tracks or subtitles, where I could when the line was commented.
If you uncomment the DTS lines, files with DTS as the first audio track will be transcoded. Transcoding in Serviio removes all other audio tracks and the embedded subtitles, so they won't be available to you. Three choices - (a) transcode and have no additional audio tracks or subs, (b) leave file as is and select a different audio track when playing on your TV, or (c) remux file so that DTS is not the first audio track.

@mikeemouse - post the MediaInfo details for the file.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Is that MediaInfo detail - see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4510 - I haven't seen that format before.
You could try adding:
<Matches container="flv" />
under the line
<Matches container="wtv" />

and see if remuxing the file makes it playable. If that doesn't work try the same line but under the <Matches container="asf" /> line in the profile - this will then transcode both audio and video (assuming Serviio recognises this as an FLV file).

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

I have to add these lines to play 90% of my movies:

  Code:
         <Matches container="avi" vCodec="mpeg4" vFourCC="xvid" />
         <Matches container="avi" vCodec="msmpeg4" vFourCC="xvid" />

Must have!

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

HI, i've tried all the different variations i saw but still cant play all my videos. i have a txp65vt60 viera 2013 model. my TV supports all that formats (AVCHD 3D/Progressive,SD-VIDEO/AVI/MKV/WMV/MP4/M4v/FLV/3GPP/VRO/VOB/TS/PS, MP3/AAC/WMA Pro/FLAC/Apple Lossless/WAV, JPEG/MPO srt, sub). I still have problems playing avi files.when i tried the same avi files with WMP (after a lot of efford to establish Communication betwin tv and pc) i had no problem for the avi but i didnt have subs. With mkv not problems.
I send my videos from pc via 100 ethernet cable.
One more thing i want to ask is about wav support. Is it something for the Near future or never?

thank you

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

@rknetwork: Yep, the two biggest variation between 2013 models is their handling of AVI's and of DTS. For AVI's, some support AVI's with DivX but not Xvid codecs, some support Xvid but not DivX and some do not support AVI's at all. Not sure how (if) we can handle all these variants in a single all encompassing 2013 profile.

@KITSOS: Can you play the AVI file if you use the Generic Profile (as you can stream them with WMP it suggests you should be able to). If so, it means the file can be played natively.
If this is the case, try removing the lines:
  Code:
<!-- DivX: the following two lines are required for models that do not support DivX: ST60 -->
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="mpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,dm4v,dx50" />
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="msmpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,dm4v,dx50" />
If that doesn't work can you see what mime type is shown on the TV when you play the file from WMP (press the blue button on your remote for Info - it should then show you the type). You may need to also change/remove the mime type earlier in the profile.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

First of all thank you for your instant response!

i have already remove that lines and I put the two lines that rknetwork suggests. The result was that finally my tv recognized the avi files as (format:video) the same type as with WMP but still I couldn’t play them. I tried many things but with no success. I tried to remove any avi lines but still the same. When I put the generic profile I was able to play the avi files but with no ext subs. It just shows the embedded subs. (ex.The.Vampire.Diaries.S05E06.HDTV.XviD-AFG.avi).I’m probably the xvid case . when I use the viera 2013 profile I see a (!) that means not recognizable format from tv. Please HELP!

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Post MediaInfo details for one of the files - I suspect from what you have stated its an XVid but lets confirm. If it is Xvid then rknetwork's suggestion would transcode them - if they can play natively (I'd suggest this is the case given you can play them with the Generic profile) you wont need his suggestion.

Try removing the lines as above, and remove rknetwork's suggestion. Also remove the lines:
  Code:
   <MediaFormatProfiles>
      <MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/divx">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>
   </MediaFormatProfiles>
This should put you in the same state as if you used the generic profile for the AVI files. Confirm that you can still play them.

wrt to playing subs with an AVI, are you sure your TV supports this for AVI files? Can you play subs if you play the file from a USB stick? What is your setting on the Delivery, Subtitles tab of Serviio Console (you should only have the top checkbox enabled).

You state that "It just shows the embedded subs"... what do you mean (AVI files do not contain embedded subs normally - there is a way to do it, but its not standard) - normally you would have an external sub file (eg. The.Vampire.Diaries.S05E06.HDTV.XviD-AFG.srt) and that file name has to exactly match the name of the video file (except the extension) - is that the case here?

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Ok sir!
Now plays the xvid files with ext subs.
What about the divx avi files? is there something I should add?
I have also some DV (pal dvcpro with PCM) avi that doesn’t play.

Thank you

Hello all ;)

Im new here, so if Im doing something wrong, I hope to be corrected.

First of all great to see a profile for the 2013 Vierra tv's, they deserve it. I tried the profile a few days after I bought my TX-P50ST60E. At first it seemed to work allright. But then I found out that certain MKV's (example included) with 2.35:1 aspect ratio got cropped to 16:9. Anyone know whats causing the problem? is there something in the profile causing the cropping, and why there is cropping in the first place?

oh when I use the Generic profile the 2.35:1 MKV's are showing properly.
thanks!

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

This is a problem when remuxing h264 video into MPEG2 container. I'm not sure if is Panasonic specific but it is annoying.

To overcome we need to transcode the video rather than remuxing it. To do this, in the profile, change the lines:
    <!-- remux VORBIS/FLAC/LPCM in MKV/MP4 to AC3, all DTS to AC3 -->
    <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" forceInheritance="true">
to:
    <!-- transcode video to retain DAR, VORBIS/FLAC/LPCM in MKV/MP4 to AC3, all DTS to AC3 -->
    <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" DAR="16:9" forceInheritance="true">
Transcoding requires more processing power than remuxing, so dont do this if running from a low processing power device (eg. NAS).

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

@KITSOS - sorry, missed your post.
Now plays the xvid files with ext subs
What about the divx avi files? is there something I should add?
Where are we at - what changes did you make? If I am correct you should not have anything in the profile that refers to AVI files? Are the DivX playing at all, or is it just that subs dont work with them?
I have also some DV (pal dvcpro with PCM) avi that doesn’t play.
Can you please post MediaInfo for the file.

    Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

    Hi KITSOS - I am getting confused because if you can play XVid natively and not DivX, the original profile (as in the OP) should work for you. If you keep the lines:
      Code:
    <!-- DivX: the following two lines are required for models that do not support DivX: ST60 -->
    <Matches container="avi" vCodec="mpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,dm4v,dx50" />
    <Matches container="avi" vCodec="msmpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,dm4v,dx50" />
    then DivX files should be transcoded and your TV should play them. Was the issue that you didn't get subtitles in this case?

    For your DV avi, try adding this to the profile:
      <Matches container="avi" vCodec="dvvideo" />
    just under the above two avi lines.

    thanks! I tried this, now it displays an 16:9 image cropped from the 2.35:1 frame windowboxed (so with side and underbars).

    is there a way to only change the audiotrack (since thats the only thing that needs to change) without affecting the video?

    I also tried running it without profile, and can confirm that the ST60 still has problems with 6 channel flac inside MKV.

    The Vorbis soundtrack played fine, btw
    cheers!

    Thats what it was originally doing - the video track was simply being remuxed (copied) into the new mpeg2 container... unfortunately when you do this the Panasonic loses aspect ratio information and displays everything as 4:3. This is fine if the video is 4:3 or 16:9 (in the latter case the TV itself stretches the video to fill the screen), but if a higher ratio then the video gets distorted (the TV still stretches it, but now distorts the aspect).

    The Vorbis soundtrack played fine, btw
    When playing without a profile (Generic DLNA)?? If so, you can probably remove the line:

      <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" aCodec="vorbis" />
    from this profile. Please confirm that works and I'll remove the line from the master.

    OK I did what you said and I also checked transcoding and worked. Maybe I forgot the transcoding box at the beginning…
    I would like also to mention something annoying that I forgot before. From time to time (I don’t know exactly how long) the serviio service needs manually restart (from services.msc not from serviio console) in order to find it from tv. Sometimes after 4-5 hours idle, sometimes less, and sometimes even when I watch something. I don’t know if it crashes or if something from windows (7 ult) is.
    I still wait an answer about WAVs. Sorry if I ask too much and thank you again for your good work and instant response. I understand, that this is something free and I can’t have everything!
    Thank you

    From time to time (I don’t know exactly how long) the serviio service needs manually restart.
    Probably best to start a new topic in the Support and Help area for this, as it's not related to this profile. I will say that my Panasonic at times can take some time to detect Serviio (or any other Media server for that matter) and sometimes I have to re-enter the Media Server area straight away to re-detect it (the pana times out prior to detection). But I've never had it crash while watching a movie. When starting a new post on this include a detailed log of when it crashes.
    I still wait an answer about WAVs.
    I'm not even sure what the current status is with wav's :?: That's one to ask the developer - zip.

    okay. but even when transcoding the aspect ratio is wrong and the picture still gets cropped.

    New guy here, thanks for all the labor of love all of you have put in to this profile!
    My question is. I have a vt60 2013 series tv. I see there has been many lines added and replace with others. Can you point me to the profile that is the greatest and newest. I too am having problems seeing avi files. For now I am using the 2102 it allows me to see the avi files. Should I stick to that or try the new 2013 profile. I tried it once but no go on the avi's. I used the profile at the beginning of the post, but made no line modfications. If this the the best profile to use I will modify some of the suggestions folks here have been submitting.
    Thanks for all the support :D
