Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

@peschinl:
I have commented out the vorbis case in the profile in the OP. Thanks.
wrt the frame windowboxed (with side and underbars) I've not seen this before. Is the TV still believing it to be a 4:3 video (the DAR="16:9" command will tell serviio to pad top and bottom in a 4:3 frame to give the appearance of the correct aspect ratio - but that doesn't explain the sidebars)? Does changing the aspect options on your TV remote have any effect?

@bob2194
I have tried to keep the OP up-to-date with changes, so it is the latest and greatest. AVI's however still present an issue as the level of support for AVI's seems to vary between 2013 models. The profile in the OP was written with to support the ST60 - ie. to transcode AVI's with DivX video, while allowing AVI's with other video types to be played natively. Not sure why it isn't therefore working for you - can you post MediaInfo detail for the AVI file so we can see what type of video and audio your AVI contains.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Thanks for the reply.
I can't get any avi files to play using the 2013 profile divix, xvid,avis. On the first page of this topic. someone said to take out these 2 lines

<!-- DivX: the following two lines are required for models that do not support DivX: ST60 -->
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="mpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,dm4v,dx50" />
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="msmpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,dm4v,dx50" />
with
<Matches container="avi" />

everytime I do that and then reboot. I get cannot connect to the server, so I have to go back to the profile that I have not edited.

Also in the profile it has a comment to remove this line if my tv supports dts, my tv does support dts. should I remove that line?
If i use the panasonic viera E/s/st/vt 2012 profile I can play AVI's and it seem everthing else except DTS. so if all fail I can swith profiles between the 2, or convert the avi to mp4 or mkv.

Thank you for the help!

Its likely not starting because the profiles.xml file is being rejected - suspect you are doing something wrong when you are changing the lines. If you want attach your modified profile to a post and I'll have a look at it. I also suggest using Notepad++ for editing the profiles.xml file - makes it easier to spot some mistakes.
ps. you should also remove the line <Matches container="avi" vCodec="dvvideo" /> when making this change.

also in the profile it has a comment to remove this line if my tv supports dts, my tv does support dts. should I remove that line?
Yes, and test it - sometimes the manual will say that it supports DTS but neglect to tell you that it doesn't work over DLNA. There are two lines for DTS transcoding (containing the phrase aCodec="dca"), one for matroska (MKV) files and one for MP4 files. The first is already commented out, the second is active (therefore is transcoding).

If i use the panasonic viera E/s/st/vt 2012 profile I can play AVI's...
The Panasonic Viera E/S/ST/VT (2011) profile transcodes all AVI - if you edit the 2013 profile as you plan this will have the same effect.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

I got a p55vt60 panasonic viera, 2013 this holiday season

having the same problems listed on this thread - avi's don't play with the 2012 panasonic profile, they look awful with the 2011/transcode profile

I'm happy to help, test, debug, research - if that will help. Is there a profile I can use on this TV that will work better?

What can I do to help fix the issue? It seems from reading this thread these profile settings will fix most of the issues?

Thank you!

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Hello,

I just bought a Panasonic CL50E60 50"LED.
The generic profile would not read any avi as divx or xvid. So I loaded your 2013 profile, and added xvid to the 2 extra lines
<!-- DivX: the following two lines are required for models that do not support DivX: ST60 -->
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="mpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,xvid,dm4v,dx50" />
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="msmpeg4" vFourCC="div3,div4,div5,divx,xvid,dm4v,dx50" />

Also I downloaded the test divx videos from divx showcase website page:
http://www.divx.com/en/devices/profiles/video
And I cannot play in my TV the 2 mkv videos:
Mike Wiegele Heliboarding and Sintel. I tried with and without transcoding
All the avi's in the page play fine (with transcoding enabled only)
and other mkv's fro tv shows play fine also. Not sure what's different in these ones ....

Thanks for your efforts !

What do you mean by awful - are they stretched, pixelated, colour is wrong.... Unfortunately as your TV doesn't play AVI's natively (otherwise the 2011/12 profile would work), you're stuck with transcoding them, so we need to work through why transcoding isn't working for you.

bob2194 wrote:I have the same tv and found that the panasonic viera E/S/ST/VT 2012 did ok on the avi's then only problem for me if the file has dts the dts won't play,It will play in stereo though.
The Panasonic Viera E/S/ST/VT (2011) inherits from the Panasonic Viera G/GT/DT/UT/VT (2011/2012) profile which transcodes MKV files with DTS (transcoding DTS into AC3)... these should therefore play. Are the files that don't play MKV or MP4?

palosanto wrote:And I cannot play in my TV the 2 mkv videos: Mike Wiegele Heliboarding and Sintel.
Not sure - when I downloaded the Sintel file it wouldn't even play in DivX's own player (although it played when streamed from the web to a browser....???). I couldn't see anything unique about the files, but in any media file there are a stack of settings that the encoder of the video can use that may not be supported by the TV. Fortunately most mainstream encodes use pretty standard settings.

One thing I could do is go systematically through the profiles and test these two mkv's and see if by chance there is profile where they play in my TV. This could give me a hint of the difference in settings? Just a thought ....

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Hello

I am a newcomer of Serviio (and of Panasonic... just bought couple of days ago).
I am trying your profile with my Pana

I am watching some sopcast stream using the sopcast groovy plugin
(viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7249)
With the Viera 2013 profile I get the video but no sound.

Switching to this modified DirectTV profile (viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14745)
I can get video and audio.

Under you can find the output of the ffmpeg -i on the stream.
Maybe it can give you some info for tuning the profile

I am using serviio 1.4 and the TV is a TXL50BL6E

Thanks for your help

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

This profile doesn't contain any Online specific transcoding instructions. You can if you want copy the one from the DirectTV profile and add it to this profile. ie add:
  Code:
<OnlineTranscoding>
   <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="192">
      <Matches container="*" />
   </Video>
</OnlineTranscoding>
between the </Transcoding> and <Subtitles> lines. This is using a sledgehammer approach as it will transcode all audio from all online sources to AC3. You may wish to refine it (eg. change the <Matches container="*" /> to <Matches container="*" aCodec="mp3" /> to only transcode only mp3 audio).

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Hi again
Something else now. When I play mkvs with DTS the PANASONIC recognizes them as VIDEO (like AVIs) and not MKV as all the other MKVs with DD or AC3. The result is that I cant see any subs. I thing serviio transcodes them. When I use the generic profile with the same MKVs all plays with subs and DTS surround without any problem. I understand that I should remove something from the config list but I don’t know what? My TV is the txp65vt60.
Thank you

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

The line for MKV's with DTS is already commented out in the profile in the OP. This line is:

<!-- Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" aCodec="dca" / --> <!-- Uncomment this line if DTS not supported natively -->

Does your profile contains this line exactly as is listed above? If so it shouldn't be transcoding. What are your sub settings in Serviio Console?

I removed the line
<Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" aCodec="dca" />
and now the MKVs with DTS plays ok with ext subs (enable subs, checked) but for a reason I cant play the xvid AVIs. I didn’t have any problem with them before. My VT60 plays xvid needs transcode for divx. I did something wrong?

Thanks for the work here. I'm fairly new to Serviio & I have just got a Panasonic L32E6B telly. I have pasted the contents of your 2013 profile into profile.xml. I can steam most stuff OK. However, I have a bunch of DVB-T2 HDTV files created by SageTV that are MPEG-PS with dual audio. When I try to play one I get a black screen & no sound.

This is the MediaInfo details:

I followed an earlier post that referred to a profile for a Sony Bravia to play SageTV files taken from Comcast, but those settings don't appear to work here.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

@KITSOS: Not sure, copy the profile from the OP and reload it. This already has the MKV line commented out, and transcodes DivX.

@keithb: Unusual format. Have you tried other profiles and see if it plays with any of them (if you do find one, capture a detailed log it playing). A lot of PVR's use proprietary video formats so that you can only play back on that device. Can you play the file on your PC? Can you play it from a USB stick on the Panasonic.

You can also try simply to transcode them. Add the line:
  Code:
<Matches container="mpeg" aCodec="aac" />
directly under the existing line
<Matches container="mpeg" vCodec="mpeg1video" />

Remember to restart your PC after changing profiles.xml.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Hi to everybody!

I' using Serviio Pro and now I own a new Panasonic VTW60.

I do not know much about the profiles and transcoding thinks but I copy the XLM from Post 1 to my Profile-File. Some normal movies etc. on my server working fine but online stream from my webcams do not work.

These are rtsp (for example rtsp://192.168.168.181:554/HighResolutionVideo) and working fine on my Samsung D-Series with the C/D-Series Profile. At the Panasonic there is nothing shown at the Online-Folder!?

Can anybody help and when there is a final Viera 2013 profile?

Thanks a lot,
Pauli

A lot of PVR's use proprietary video formats so that you can only play back on that device. Can you play the file on your PC? Can you play it from a USB stick on the Panasonic.

You can also try simply to transcode them. Add the line:
  Code:
<Matches container="mpeg" aCodec="aac" />
directly under the existing line
<Matches container="mpeg" vCodec="mpeg1video" />

Remember to restart your PC after changing profiles.xml.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I tried the line you suggested but it's still giving a blank screen. The problem is that no transcoding is taking place as stated in the log file. (Detailed logging enabled.)

I tried playing one of the MPEG-PS files from a USB stick & the TV rendered it but playback was fame by frame & no sound.

I can play the files in Windows Media Player but there is no sound.

I found a post here. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1645&p=8535&hilit=sagetv#p8535 that refers to SageTV files & gives the following xml:

Being a newbie, I'm not clear on what is necessary to be added to your profile.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

@keithb.
Can you try:
  1. change the line <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" forceInheritance="true"> above where you have changed the profile as per last post, to <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" forceVTranscoding="true" forceInheritance="true">
  2. if that doesn't work, try also removing the aCodec="aac" bit in the line I previously gave you. This should now transcode all mpeg-ps files.
  3. and if that doesn't work, can you PM a short video made using SageTV to me - something small, even if you just record 15 seconds of commercial.
@Pauli: can you post some details of the stream (ffmpeg - i): see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1123
As to when this profile will be finalised, not sure. To quote zip on another post: "It looks like Panasonic have a different software for all their models :roll:". The next step is probably to gather the friendly names for the devices that use this profile, and to try and sort thru the mess that is AVI support on the Pana's.

Re: Panasonic Viera 2013 Profile - Testing Required

Just want to confirm 2013's seem to be all over the place in regards capability. I have a VT60 and tried various combinations of profiles in this thread. As suggested I tried the Sony Bravia profile and this seemed to cover quite a few formats, so based off this one and now tweaking it. Seems my TV doesn't like XVID or DiVX, plays 264 natively, and using mpeg2-ts for everything else.

Only issue I have is with some home videos, similar issue as reported on another thread where audio works for a few seconds, cuts out and then intermittently comes back on. Its mp3 @ 320Kbps. Wondering if my TV has a problem with the bitrate(?). Pretty new to Serviio - but is there a way to re-sample at a lower rate? May not be that but want to try it.

Thx,

A.

This stream is a Logitech Alert Security Cam and I have defined the stream as an online stream. At my Samsung D-Series it works like a charm but at the Panasonic TX-P50VTW60 the folder 'Online' is empty all the time and no stream is showing!
