Panasonic st50 wont play some mkvs with high reference frames anyone know how to solve this pls running windows 7.
Re: Panasonic st50 wont play some mkvs
Can you post MediaInfo for one of the unplayable files? My ST30 plays everything I have. It does choke on high bit-rate HD videos, though. I think around 15Mbps is about the limit.

As a test - try using the Panasonic 2013 profile and play this file. This will attempt to play the file natively. Remember to press Save after changing the profile.

I have tried all the Panasonic profiles the only one it works with is the 2010 with transcoding but that profile seems to transcode everything. Ive been reading alot of av forums and i get the general impression its down to the reference frames, standard blue ray should have 4 to 5, some tellys can handle up to 8 but beyond that its asking a lot because tvs dont have enough ram to handle it, The resulting issue is i dont have a powerful computer computer for transcoding for serviio. Is there anyway that I can enable trenscoding for the 2012 st profile for these odd mkvs with high reference frames and hope my laptop can handle it. So frustrating after watching 300 rise of an empire 1080p 3d mkv one minute and then not being able the watch a 720p mkv the next .

If you want to do it based on h264 profile then try - in the Panasonic 2013 profile change the line:
- <Matches container="*" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.1"/>
to
<Matches container="*" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.0"/>
Let me know which one (if either) worked for you. This is video transcoding though which is processor intensive, so your laptop may not handle it.
Am curious - when you used the 2013 profile did it play this file at all (with audio)? Also, your 1080 3D movie that plays fine - what audio stream does that have?
