BDT-220 No sound with A_EAC3 Audio Track

I'm streaming to the Panasonic BDT-220 with the corresponding profile. It works fine for audio tracks encoded for AC3 but not for tracks encoded as EAC3 (DD+).

How can I trigger Serviio to transcode the EAC3 tracks to AC3?

Note - my receiver can't handle DD+ so digital passthrough is not an option.

I'm running Serviio 1.9.

Which profile are you using?

I'm using the "Panasonic BD Player" profile.

I realize now that I don't want Serviio to transcode for the BDT-220, as then I'll lose the ability to seek.

The BDT-220 supports DD+ natively, but my receiver doesn't. I'll see if I can get some help on a Panasonic support forum and post any answers I find back here.

Yeah, if your AVR doesn't support DD+, you have no option other than transcoding the audio. Unless the Panasonic can down-convert DD+ to DD, you'll have to transcode.

Can you link to your panasonic support forum thread please in case someone else here has the same issue?

I have bdt-225 but don't have any eac3 but if I did I would want to be able to play it.

Thanks!

There are other forums out there where the player is discussed, but that thread seems to be the most active. Still, there's been no reply since I posted a couple of days ago.

My current (and hopefully temporary) solution is to use Universal Media Server (UMS) with a WDTV player. I haven't tested UMS with the Panasonic player. I'll do that and let you know.

Freaknik, that is a new audio codec for AAC, kind of like the change in video codecs from H.264 to H.265. HE stands for High-Efficiency, and is just a more efficient version of AAC. Your Panasonic is likely too old to support that codec. I'm not certain if Zip has added that as a detectable audio codec for transcoding.

I read you makes sense, its an old player I have had it a long time. Thats progress. One of the reasons I dont want to spend a lot on a smart tv since the go obsolete.
