transcoding works but subtitle not and vice versa

I am new to serviio and found it to be amazing. It took me some time to get it to run transcoding of videos properly.

I am using Panasonic TH-L42E3K.

When I play videos such as mkv or x264 movies, serviio will transcode the videos however I do not have the option in my TV to select subtitle.

However, on certain AVI files, the srt subtitles will get pickup and I have the option of viewing the subtitle using the same "I-II" button.

Is that a feature limitation in the TV or the serviio or what?

That is why when I press the "I-II" button, I see a video menu instead of the one displayed when playing avi files. When playing AVI files, I press "I-II" and I can select to view external subtitle. So far am I correct?

If I am correct, then would it be possible to transcode the unsupported videos into AVI? That way, perhaps I can get subtitles displaying? Comments?

no there is only certain containers we can transcode into.
