Problem with a Panasonic TC-P50S30 TV

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, DLNA and streaming in General.

I bought the TV above and I discovered DLNA. I was using WMP 12 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit as my server and it worked perfectly with my older AVI, DivX and XviD files. Some MKV files played other didn't but this is not an issue for me. The problem I have is with the newer MP4 movies (HD @ 720p for now). On the computer they play beautifully, but when I stream to my TV using WMP 12 I get a silent movie. No audio at all!

So I downloaded Mezzmo and it plays them with the audio, but it's choppy and I can't really watch a movie that stops every 2-3 seconds. I guess it tries to transcode the movie to an understandable format and it takes it time to do so. Not enough CPU power, maybe!

So, I searched the net for a free DLNA server and I found Serviio. Serviio plays these files without the choppiness of Mezzmo. But it stretches the image to cover the whole screen, altering the aspect ratio. I was digging in it last night to see if I can find a place where I can tell it to keep the original aspect ration but I didn't find anything. I found this option for audio (keep original channels or downgrade to two channels).

My question is how or where do I tell Serviio to keep the original aspect ratio of the image when transcoding to a format that my TV would understand?

also, another problem I find is that it takes it forever to update the media library. It's really annoying, especially when I turn my computer on and there is nothing to update. Is there a way to shorten this time?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Not at the moment but is planned

Not sure what you mean, once the files are stored in the library they will be immediately available after restart.

Re: Problem with a Panasonic TC-P50S30 TV

Could you provide information "ffmpeg -i" (see signature links) about this file?

issue is known :http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2055#p11474

For the library update, check the library tab in serviio console, you can change/disable auto library update.
Personally after the first complete library scan, I disabled the auto update, and set manually when new files were added.

Re: Problem with a Panasonic TC-P50S30 TV

Hello Site Admin,

First of all, thank you for replying to my post and secondly, for developing Serviio.

When I first launched the Serviio console on my coputer after initial installation, it probably had to check my whole hard drive for content and that's fine. It took it a long time (anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes).

Then, I had to restart my computer and, if I'm not mistaken, it searched my hard drive again. Now, just to remind you, I only started using it yesterday night and had to restart my computer only once since then. SO I don't know if this would happen every time or not. It suppsed to have some sort of an indexing service for quick access and only update itself if it finds new files or does not find known files, after removal from the media library. Again, I'll check that tonight.

However, I think I will just disable the automatic update by default and turn it on only when I change files.

Looking forward for the option to keep original aspect ratio.

Thank you,

I will run your request later on, but at the moment I'm not in front of my home computer, so I hope the info above would be enough.

I will take your advice about disabling automatic updates of the media library.

Thanks again,

This file will be remuxed into MPEG2TS, with video and audio copy, its strange that video was stretch.
