Re: Problem Knowing How to Get Serviio to Recognize Files

Marinerguy wrote:My TV does recognize that it is on my computer and lists various generic folders, e.g. Videos. However, when I click on those folders, nothing is there - no videos, no music, no photographs. I looked for a spot on the Serviio Console for a place where I could indicate which videos, photos, and music files I wanted uploaded (right word?) so that I could access them from the TV.

I'm a newbie as well. I had this problem too. The simple fix is to ensure that you've identified the file paths to your media collection. Don't forget to "save" them after identifying the paths and media types.

Now if I could only figure out how to play AVI files on my Viera 65".

Re: Panasonic Viera and Serviio

It looks like there are 2 series of Viera TVs, one that can play AVI/DivX natively, the other cannot. So maybe we need 2 profiles? Anyone knows what are the models that support it and that don't? We would need automatic detection settings as well.

Yes, I confirm according to GetProtocolInfo result :http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=devices_format_support#panasonic

zip wrote: Anyone knows what are the models that support it and that don't? We would need automatic detection settings as well.

No but with devices that supports GetProtocolInfo sink result, we could add them, for other, users have to do some testing.

I don't know where to find a Panasonic GetProtocolInfo database.
- only serviio wiki and UpnpDatabase, but nothing about panasonic devices

Re: Panasonic Viera and Serviio

Hi,
I'm able to test it as well, with a VIERA TC-L32X30, which the native software does not play AVis
Please let me know what are the next steps for the experiments.

Re: Panasonic Viera and Serviio

Hi All.

Thank you for developing this simple and powerful piece of software. I have a Panasonic TX-L42E30(E) and if you need me to run some tests, please ask.

I can successfully play 1080p / 720p .MKV files through DLNA but no SRT available.. To view SRT i have to remux it in MKV file and then, everything plays OK.
I've tested .AVI without SRT and it's ok, will now test with SRT.
EDIT: All these tests were made without transcoding.

So if you need something in order to create a new profile for Panasonic 2011 viera, please buy.

Thanks.

Re: Panasonic Viera and Serviio

UPDATE:

All my tests were made with transcoding disabled.

- MKV 1080/720p playing nice. In order to get subtitles e have to remux the MKV files and add the SRT. (works with mkvtoolnix v3.4.0).
- AVI playing nice with external SRT.
- Attached protocol info of my Viera TX-L42E30E, hope it helps.

Thanks.

@voodoo: can you post what kind of MKV pls?

My Viera E-series (e-series being TCL32E3 in my case) can play MKV files encoded w. H264 video, and AC3 audio, ONLY). MKV files produced by programs like MakeMKV are encoded w. mpeg2video, and have to be transcoded to play. Unfortunately so far, the profile I am using seems to work only with some them. If you could post what kind of MKVs you are using/playing it might help (thanks).

And, for completeness, I can play (without transcoding):

MKVs encoded w. H264/AC3 (tested). H264/PCM should play, but I have NOT tested it
MP4 encoded w. H264/AC3 (tested). H264/LPCM should play, NOT tested

AVIs, transcoded to Mpeg2-TS (tested)
AAC audio, transcoded to AC3 (tested)
WTV files (from Windows Media Center), transcoded to Mpeg2-PS and AC3 (tested)

Re: Panasonic Viera and Serviio

I have some of that too. The file plays for a second, then stops, then plays for another second, and stops again. Basically starts, stops, and continues like that. Plays fine on my PC.

The CPU usage is fairly low, transcoding is turned off in Serviio, and the video is compatible with the Viera E-series.
