Qnap 1.7.1 to Oppo UDP203 - No Audio Files

Hi,

I suspect this is an issue with the new Oppo UHD player - but thought it worth raising here in case Serviio could in some way be influencing what I'm seeing.

Basic setup is two QNap's - 531p & 563 - the former on QTS 4.2.2 the latter on QTS 4.3.2. Both have Serviio 1.7.1

The DLNA element of the Oppo see's both units fine and can successfully play video files from either. It can also successfully see the artists/album artist/genre/etc lists from the audio presentation but cannot see any of the files whatsoever (regardless of type - i.e. MP3, FLAC, DSF). My previous model Oppo BDP103 has no issue in this regard maiing me think it's the Oppo that probably has the issue.

Is there anything I can provide to Oppo support from Serviio itself that would support this ?

Many thanks,
Ian

i'll keep updating this...

Oppo replied and asked me to try an alternative DLNA server - oshare - and this does work just fine although it is very simple in comparison to Serviio. So it seems there is an issue between Serviio & the UDP203's DLNA implementation but how do I go about identifying excatly where the issue lies? has anybody else got the same kit and is able to test?

I also tried using v1.8 from a Windows machine and this also displays the same behaviour (i.e. no files).

Cheers,
Ian

So, no real surprise here - Oppo blame Serviio (despite kinda recommending it on their own websites...)

This is what they had to say:-

Generic DLNA device may not have the proper MIME Types for the player, so the server will transcode to the file types that are configured. This is why we had recommended that you try oShare (which can't transcode) and see if you have the same issues. If oShare works properly, then this is definitely an issue with the Serviio software not being configured properly for the media types the player can support playing back.

Nobody else on here have this combination as yet ?

Can you provide supported formats of the Oppo player?

Hi zip,

The output from devicespy is below (sorry about the layout).

In a different query to them Oppo also stated this - I'm just including it in case Unicode is relevant to what Serviio is presenting:-
Unicode is not supported and some foreign language characters are not implemented in the player unless the Player Language is changed to that language type. These are things we hope to fix in a future firwmare release.

DeviceSpy output:-

That looks fine. audio/mpeg for MP3 is what Serviio uses. I assume you're using the Generic profile?

Hi,

Yes, generic profile. Had to explain to Oppo that that meant there was no transcoding going on. But still no files are shown - every other device I own works fine (including the previous model Oppo) but getting them to accept that the fault might be at their end seems to be a bit of a challenge!

The latest pblic beta firmware from Oppo claims to fix the issue - Hurray!!

Except not if you use FLAC or DSF files....mp3 and wma now work so thats a small consolation.

And finally, with yet another firmware from Oppo, they now seem to have got it accepting all file types. Hurrah...
