Serviio on a hybrid nas?

Bit of an odd one this...

I aqquired an MRT Nas R200 which was bricked, and the original firmware was unknown.

Telnet wouldnt play ball, but by Jtag, i could recieve this

-==================================-
Boot Loader [LOADER32 1.20e]
Press <ESC> to enter extra mode
-==================================-

SB PCI reg 0x48 = 00078006
GPIO18 = 0
Active to LAN Disk.
CPU ID: 0x0
Default MAC: 00:B3:F6:00:56:03
Initialize MAC & PHY...OK.
Default IP: 169.254.0.1

<Enter> or <New IP> or wait 1 Seconds:
Enter tftps upload mode:

Searches on other forums didnt support this nas, so i was in the dark.

I took a gamble and tried various firmwares, with no success, either kernal size too big, or not recognised.

I did some further digging, and found the bootloader was refering to an icybox, so i took a gamble and had a go with an icybox firmware..

the install worked and i got this

Enter tftps upload mode:
Upload filename: R3282_1_59b_NAS903.bin
Expected Total Size: 683306.
KERNEL+WEB, ID: KERNELWEB.
All data receive to RAM, Wait 3 seconds to continue.
Start Erase Kernel OK.
Start Write Kernel (len: 524284) .........................ok.

Start Erase Web OK.
Start Write Web (len: 158974) ....... ok.
Boot the kernel from 0x00F51000 ...

==========================================

NET_PppEvent(): lower layer device down!
PPPOE_Stop(): ppp0 already stop.
ppp0 Same Phase[DEAD]

It now boots to an OS, and i can access a firmware net page..

ive managed to put in a hard drive, and it says its formatted, (trying to get it on the network is a different matter though ;))

question is, not knowing what the original os is/was. is it worth gambling on trying to shoehorn serviio in, or should i leave well alone?

Re: Serviio on a hybrid nas?

Specs are sparse to say the least

I,m just hunting a dual drive firmware...

looking at the rom binary i flashed with it was 68k, so tiny to say the least,

however looking around at the loader it would appear its a loader called loader32...

further digging suggests that it could use redboot, but what loader32 points to is somthing based on a bifferboard

http://bifferos.bizhat.com/

this is as close as i can get to the unit itself

http://www.cablesdirect.co.uk/Product-C ... UALNASSATA

although it looks very close to the MRT NAS R-200

Re: Serviio on a hybrid nas?

Well ive managed to get 2 different firmwares to run...

One being the icybox 903 firmware . only one disk though (file size 668k)

The other being the ULS 3282 lan storage server again only one disk varient (file size 671k)

i,ll keep pushing file sizes until it stops :)

Re: Serviio on a hybrid nas?

Managed to get the original firmware from the manufacturer :)

Unfortunately it runs bootloader32, which will not run linux.

I've asked the manufacturer if the bootloder can be reflashed to redboot, which does support linux

Re: Serviio on a hybrid nas?

good luck with it. You get linux on it and it might work. I am going to try and run serviio on an orginal xbox that has been softmoded.

Re: Serviio on a hybrid nas?

Ive had feedback from the manufacturer, the current loader - loader32 wont run / support linux :(

However it can be re flashed to redboot or similar, to enable a more friendly OS that will support linux :)

Only trouble is i haven't got a clue how to programme linux lol

looks some flashing & a steep learning curve is in order lol
