Problems with serviio on Synology DS211j

Hey people,

I wanted to install serviio on my DS211j according to the explanations @ http://pcloadletter.co.uk/2011/02/07/se ... h-arm-cpu/ (first of all, thanks for the great work there).
The DS211j got DSM3.1 installed (got the NAS friday last week and upgraded its DSM instantly).

I got serviio running, the S99serviio.sh works. I got a user called "serviio" (without password) with READ and WRITE access to the folders WEB and PUBLIC (public includes my media files).
The user "serviio" got no password and write access just for testing reasons. I wanted to change this later on to a good password and take away the write rights.
I also moved the script to /opt/etc/init.d and changed its owner and execution rights.

My TV (Panasonic) lists the serviio and I can access SOME of my files and they play well (mostly avis, MKVs and some VOBs).

Now I got two problems:

1. When I restart the NAS serviio is NOT started automatically. So I have to navigate to /opt/etc/init.d/ and run the S99serviio.sh script with the option "start" manually.
Right after the NAS booted in the DSM I just get the big red X which tells me, that SERVIIO is NOT running.
2. Because playing those MKVs (mentioned above) starts transcoding on the NAS, I reformatted them with mkv2vob into MPG files. But serviio does not update its library. It does not
rescan my media files (even if I force it to from within the DSM). I still see the MKVs, but no MPGs. It also lists some old files, that were moved away some days ago.

I hope, you can help me :( Because the standard DLNA server which comes with the NAS does not work at all for me.
It lists my files on the TV, but I do not get a preview video and cannot play any of the files (just a "Please wait" message appears for every file).
I previously used SERVIIO on my windows machine, where everything worked great, this is why I wanted to continue using SERVIIO.

Re: Problems with serviio on Synology DS211j

Okay, my problem with the autostart seems to be solved.
Yesterday and today the SERVIIO server started together with the NAS without problems.

But it still does not refresh my media library. I know that the FAQ says, I should check the permission rights for the media folders,
but they are set right! Anyone here, that can help me?

Can you post your serviio.log it is in the serviio directory under the log folder. You might have to zip it to get it to attach. If you can do not zip it, I am at work and cannot download zip files.

Re: Problems with serviio on Synology DS211j

Okay, I stoped the S99 script, removed the old log file and started the script again.
Then I logged into the DSM3.1, went to the Serviio console and forced a rescan of my library.

Then I opened the serviio.log (which was written with debug info enabled) with nano and here it is:

Edit: I also checked the library listing on my TV and it still shows wrong information.

Re: Problems with serviio on Synology DS211j

Can you post a screen shot of your serviio console showing the drives you want scanned like the Screenshot in this thread.

http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2745&start=20#p16884

If you do no mind since you have the same NAS as he does and seem to know what you are doing on it, can you help him with his NAS access, his serviio install on his windows machine cannot see the nas drive.

Really weird. On my windows machine, the files were successfully recognized.

Because of your question of me helping out in the thread: Id love to help the guy. Ill have a look into the thread and then Ill see if I can help him.

Edit: But I still cannot imagine, why SERVIIO is showing old stuff and does not refresh the folders correctly.

Re: Problems with serviio on Synology DS211j

Do you have the same version of ffmpeg install on both computers?

Re: Problems with serviio on Synology DS211j

I think I got it... I reinstalled FFMPEG by calling "ipkg install -verbose_wget ffmpeg"

Now the SERVIIO refreshed everything just fine. Now I will have to test the MPEGs if they play well.

Return to NAS installation
