I would bet my paycheck that if you made serviio easier to install, usage would skyrocket in NAS circles. Are there any impediments to doing this? I know the Java license is a bit on the restrictive side. At the very least an install script could help.

Re: ipkg

Considering this is a request, I thought it was more appropriate for the "feature request" section. I read the how-to, and installed it using those instructions. It took about 2 hours and was quite a bit of work. You found it seamless and easy?

Re: ipkg

if someone wants to volunteer, I'm not against creating these packages. But it must follow the EULA, ie not used for reselling or distribution on NAS devices by the manufacturers.

Re: ipkg

As the creator of the Synology guide I looked into creating a package and like you said the Java interpreter is a big issue. The other big deal is that Synology for one has products with three separate CPU architectures. Building a package under those conditions is a nightmare.
