Miksa,
thx but these files are all working when I use Serviio from my mac. The library is not loading here.

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

I sorted that out by using webUI. Things are finally working. However, I have a new problem. The subtitles aren't showing up. They do show when I run through a mac, but not when I run Serviio direct from my book.
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

5. Install ibm java - it's a 1.6 version. Grab the 32bit IBM POWER Install anywere J2SE version from http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/linux/download.html

So far looks great. The box is fast enough to run it smoothly with subtitles, skip/ff and resume - all tested and working fine.

Keep up the good work with serviio :)

How does one grab the JAVA version? I am a newbie to ssh and don't know how to. I am using openjdk and am unable to get subtitles going. I don't know if it is the java or any other reason for this.

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

Hi there!

I want to say thanks for the great "WDTVLive" Guide - after 2 Days I get it running on "My Book World Edition 2"
I use debian-squeeze on it and for the Web Console I use "WebUI v1.3beta"
Actually I added the folders to scan - it is really slow ( maybe because of the Thumbnail creation I dunno )

I hope when the scan is finished I can use it like a charm

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

Again Hello!

I checked the log files and get this warning, I think Serviio can't save the database or preferences.

2012-12-24 09:30:51,670 WARN [prefs] Could not lock User prefs. Unix error code 2.
2012-12-24 09:30:51,673 WARN [prefs] Couldn't flush user prefs: java.util.prefs.BackingStoreException: Couldn't get file lock.

Does anybody know how to fix this? I seached the web and only find that the user has no home dir or that java tried to write to a non writable folder

Thanks in advance!

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

Hi all.... I am a bit of a noob, so apologies in advance if I ask especially noobish questions....

Firstly thanks to Jazzman, Cerberus etc... I have been using the Wiki guide supplemented by the PDF that Double T put together.

I've got as far as the Java installation (Section 5)....

Having been asked..... twice "DO you want to continue" I selected "Y" but the log I have appears quite different to the log in Double T's PDF. I've noticed that two files failed...

Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/openjdk-6-jdk_6b18-1.8.13-0+squeeze2_powerpc.deb
/var/cache/apt/archives/ttf-dejavu-extra_2.31-1_all.deb

Apparently because there is not enough space on the device?

I've since tried a few more commands to start again, but again no space....

Reading package lists... Error!
E: Unable to write mmap - msync (28 No space left on device)
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Any idea's please?.... are their any folders/logs that I perhaps need to purge? Reading through it appears I need to create a /tmp directory but I'm not sure how to do this or how it would affect the subsequent commands (naming and referencing) that I have to use?

Thanks

Edit... A bit of a concern now is that since following the steps (upto the point of the Java install) that my MBL will now longer accept my password to access the web interface. :o

I've now managed to reset the password... using this thread (thought I would add the link in case anyone else has a similar issue) http://community.wdc.com/t5/My-Book-Liv ... 967/page/4

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

Looks like I've bricke my MBL.... the factory reset that I mentioned above did work..... to an extent...

But it errored whenever I tried to set the password. Having closed my browser I was then unable to access the dashboard again and having not already re-enabled SSH I'm stuck!

Edit..... managed to debrick my MBL using this excellent guide... http://community.wdc.com/t5/My-Book-Liv ... lse#M12669

So will try again.... I am using an older firmware 02.11.09-053 (May 2012) now though...... fingers crossed. ;)

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

I've now managed to get as far as the FFMPEG installation....

Basically this failed, I was mainly using Double T's instructions but have since started using JazzMan's guide...

I've updated the sources file with the entries from Double T's post viewtopic.php?p=53013#p53013 and then followed his instructions again, but all I get now are these lib errors.

MyBookLive:/usr/local/serviio/serviio-0.6.2/bin# apt-get install ffmpeg

Another attempt.... I'm well and truly stuck now....

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

Well I have spent just about all day on this now :/

After the problems with the bricked drive and initial install I decide to upgrage the MBL to the latest firmware.... that went fine...

I then followed DoubleT's install guide and everything went fine until the FFMPEG install.... what seems to be a common problem... and I can't get around it...

MyBookLive:/usr/local/serviio/serviio-0.6.2/bin# apt-get install ffmpeg
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:

libc6-ppc64: Depends: libc6 (= 2.11.3-4) but 2.11.2-2 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I carried on regardless.... the server is running and I can connect to it using the Serviio v - WebUI v 1.0 console... however an error message on the page states "WARNING: There is a version mismatch between Serviio and Web UI. There may be a loss of functionality." and if I try to make any changes or save the settings I get a Parse error....

Also...
MyBookLive:~# /etc/init.d/serviio status
/etc/default/serviiod: line 7: Update: command not found

ARGH!!!!! I must be so near and yet I am so far....

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

HI

Hope you can help as I am at wits end. I have tried using the forum plus other web resources for weeks to solve but am ready to admit defeat. If I can't get assistance then I am going to be forced to run serviio off my desktop, which I do not want to do.

I have a mybook live 2tb and have installed Serviio but it does not work.
Issues are as follows
1. serviio will not restart on it's own after a reboot.
2. Serviio manually started ./serviio.sh & command. Stops on it's own after an hour or so.
3. Serviio server is started from serviioweb not when serviio service is started.
4. Serviio cannot be seen from any of my devices and yet their ip addresses are picked up by serviio and one is actually registered as green on the device dashboard.

Here is my Java version
java version "1.6.0_18"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.8.13) (6b18-1.8.13-0+squeeze2)
OpenJDK Zero VM (build 14.0-b16, interpreted mode)

I have also uploaded serviio.log to help.

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Thank you.

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

Yeah I had to give up to....

Instead I just paid for Twonky..... and upgraded MBL 3TB running two Twonky instances on it.... It does the job but I do think Serviio is the better media server. Really wish someone much smarter than me would get it working.

Re: Serviio server on WD My Book Live

Hi again, I've been using the latest version of Twonky since my last message above.... it works but I don't like it.... I just want Serviio.

Having just upgraded my MBL to the latest firmware I though I'd try again... I can't even get Java installed this time...

/etc/apt$ apt-get install openjdk-6-jdk
Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
aptitude-common: Breaks: aptitude (< 0.6.8-1) but 0.4.11.11-1~lenny1 is to be installed
openjdk-6-jdk: Depends: openjdk-6-jre (= 6b27-1.12.4-1) but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: libxt-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

ARGH! so frustrating! :(

Hi guys !
After two days of searching and reading all posts on the WEB from every forum out there I got nowhere so I decided to think the problem for myself.
I figure out how to install serviio on WD My Book Live, I wanted to share the experience with everybody.

You can find all info here: WD My Book Live with Serviio
I'm a noob in Linux and I think everybody can follow the tutorial
I wanted to use the latest version of Serviio (1.2.1) but is not transcoding for some reason. If you don't want transcoding you can install the new version in the same way.

Sorry, that doesn't work for me. Even with the correct firmware, I'm getting all sorts of errors:

-GPG errors (The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available)
-apt-get install --allow-unauthenticated debian-multimedia-keyring results in "not found"
-"Invalid record in the preferences file, no Package header"

and others...
