Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.2.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Hi,
Its funny how i was happy about being able to upgrade my hardware to DS213j and Samsung F series almost without spending money, few months ago.
Now i feel doomed, and i try not to think "i want my old stuff back". :(

Atm im using Server media and Video station from Synology, but aww.. not awesome as Serviio at all.
If you need a beta tester, let me know.

Waiting for the update as well! Patters, let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Package updated to Serviio 1.3.1 with FFmpeg 2.0 Git head from a few days ago, with librtmp, libass, and libx264.
Since all Syno CPUs except the Intel ones lack vector units (no AltiVec on PowerPC nor NEON on ARM) libx264 will be so slow as to be pretty much useless on those. It would be interesting if someone can report back whether the Intel ones can manage realtime transcoding for an iPhone for instance.

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Managed to update my rock stable 0.6.2 to 1.3.1 a couple of days ago. Works very unstable.

TV: Samsung LE46C750 and DS411j NAS.

What happens: I let it update the library and when I try to access video/photo/music on the tv as I normally do, the TV waits for some seconds, and then tells me there is no media available. It behaves EXACTLY like it would if I were stressing the NAS with file transfer and there are not enough system resources available for it to also handle Serviio.

In other words: it seems like the new serviio is somehow using more resources than the old version and that is why it doesn't work. Sometimes I can get to the browse folder list and look at the video/audio/image files, so the files have been indexed. It's just that the poor nas seems to stress over the new serviio. Too bad since I was looking forward to be able to disable thumbnail generation for images.

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Hi there!

I installed serviio 1.3.1 31 on my brand new synology RS812+. Installation worked fine but no content displayed at clients. Question: What Java release is required in detail? Its a Intel Atom engine on the synology 812+. The Java I installed is "Java Manager 6.45", while the instruction tells "Java embedded ...". Is there a different version I need to install? If yes, where to get and how to install? MANY THANKS in advance for your support!

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

It should work with either the Java from my repo or the Java Manager one from Synology (which came along later). They're both getting old though since they're Java 6 which is no longer being updated by Oracle. Java 7 won't work on the Intel Synos. Try my Java package if you're stuck.

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

It works now!

Changed "Java Manager 6 V45" aginst yours "Java SE for embedded 6 V34".

Library at Console Client inserted via "add path" needs format "/volume1/video". Before it was (created through serviio console client!) "/volume1/homes/serviio/\\RACKSTATION\video" ..

Fantastic stuff!

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Using DSM DS212j
I had a problem that Serviio didn't started after the update. Nothing in the logs or anything else. Even after removing and reinstalling serviio and java. But I notice that the tmp folder was full of files...
Turned out that some some utility from my optware busybox installation wasn't good enough (sed or echo??) and borked the serviio installation script sequence.
Solution was to temporarly remove busybox and install serviio again. :D

Well, after several install/uninstall of 1.3.1 and the same with Java, landing on Java 6, everything's finally working here, too.

I can now finally see my pictures via DLNA and the TV, because I can disable thumbnail generation for images.

Only issue is that browsing and entering of directories is about twice as slow as my old 0.6 installation. Wonder why that is?

Please can you amend the repo URL in DSM Package Center temporarily to https://packages.pcloadletter.co.uk/index-logged.php so I can see what the CPU architecture ID is? Thanks.

Tried, but returned "Invalid Location"

It worked with "http://packages.pcloadletter.co.uk/index-logged.php", is that ok?

Thank you for considering the installation for DS214 play

Sorry. URL was wrong - it should be http.
I see your system CPU is "evansport". I wanted to be sure that the info on the Syno CPU wiki is correct.
Can you try to run the intel FFmpeg I already made? Details on my blog comments...
