Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.4 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel QorI

I run this build on XPEnology system, DSM 4.3
The HW is a HP Proliant Gen8 Server.

My problem is that I cannot make the transcoding to work to embed the subtitles, for my Sharp Aquos dumb "SmartTV".

See the problem here.

Hey Patters, I'm thinking of trying the beta of DSM 5.0 on my DS213+ NAS box. Have you had chance to test this yet? I'm informed by the Beta FAQ that new versions of packages would be required.

Let me know please as 5.0 of DSM looks very nice and I'd like to have a play, but don't want to lose Serviio.

Thanks.

Same here.
Please Patters, let us know, will Serviio work on 5.0 beta?

Will probably run after re-installing Java - had the same with the beta version of DSM 4.3 :geek:
But I would still like some confirmation before I try the 5.0 beta... Patters :?:

Yes, I'm running it on DSM 5.0 beta now. The good news is that if you have a 2010 model NAS with a PowerPC CPU, you can now also use Java and Serviio finally :)

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.4 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel QorI

Regarding ffmpeg thumbnail generation speed. I am stubborn and insisted on thumbnail generation on my Synology DS212j. Generating a thumbnail for a 1920x1080@25i home video takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes by default (fast increase depending on the seek parameter).

I found that if you use a less accurate seek in ffmpeg-wrapper.sh you can consistantly speed up the thumbnail generation to about 10 seconds by moving the seek parameter (-ss XX) in front of the input file parameter (-i). As I understand it will then seek on index frames only. It's less accurate and it throws a couple of warnings but it works for me.

default: ffmpeg -threads auto -i <input-file> -an -frames:v -ss <seek> -f image2 <output>
on index: ffmpeg --threads auto -ss <seek> -i <input-file> -an -frames:v -f image2 <output>

I have altered the ffmpeg-wrapper.sh script to move the -ss parameter in front of the -i paremeter. If anyone is interested I can post the changes.

patters wrote:No OpenCL then, and apparently no VDPAU support either. Despite the marketing hype about those Intel Atom Evansport SoCs, I doubt there will be any functional transcoding benefit. Very odd that they disabled yasm too. I think Synology will just stick to using the integrated GPU to render media to this NAS's HDMI port. I can't really imagine that the FFmpeg team would spend lots of time and effort optimizing for a single GPU that's in a particular SoC. They haven't for instance added support for QuickSync in the 4th Gen Core i series CPUs.
I suppose the good news is that I don't need to release a whole new compile of FFmpeg. Four architectures for Synology is quite enough!

Can someone with a DS214 (armadaxp) check if my ARMv7 build of FFmpeg can use the two CPU cores? In the Delivery, Transcoding section of Serviio Console can you select 2 cores in the dropdown?

Does this mean that there is no added value of a DS214 Play compared to a DS214 in terms of running a Serviio Server? Or what does it mean exactly? :)

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.4 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel QorI

It is indeed available....and after upgrading to it, my Serviio 1.4 install will no longer run on my DS413J...simply won't start - don't know where I should be looking for error logs etc ? The Java install did come through the upgrade fine and appears to be running fine too.

Any ideas anybody ?

...I should have just read a bit harder above - removing and re-installing Java does indeed fix things....

I'm in the same boat. Everything went well with my DSM 5 upgrade but the Serviio package simply won't start.

I made clean DSM 5 install to my DS213+, then installed Java 7, then Serviio, but the Serviio package won't start.
From log I can see, that Serviio stops on this point:
[IndexedDiskCache] Region [thumbnails] Disk cache not shutdown properly, shutting down now.
Attached also detailed log.

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.4 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel QorI

Hi Folks,

I had to re-install serviio and java, then it would at least finally run having also upgraded, my new problem is the browser part wont connect.
It says 'sorry the page you are looking for is not found' when I browse to finish the install.

My device is a DS214 Marvell Armada XP 1.07GHz

DSM version DSM 5.0-4458 (having upgraded, then the issue started)

Any advice really appreciated.

Thanks

edit: I now notice that my DS214 goes to sleep, which indicates that the serviio is indeed not running even though it says that it is.

LS,

I have the same issue as above.
Checked the apache logs with following results :

  Code:

The I renamed the .htaccess file in the web/serviioweb directory an retried.
Then the site showed response but was not showing correct results.
Duplicates removed from the error log shows these results.
