Raspberry Pi doesn't have the processing power to burn in subtitles. Do you have transcode enabled? What is your playback device?

back to this.... as updated wiki for latest build.

I could do it now I guess but Oracle wouldn't allow Java to be distributed, that's a legal problem we don't want.

Re: Serviio on a RPi ? (Raspberry Pi)

Ive noticed you dont use Shine as your audio encoder - https://github.com/savonet/shine
More info about this is found here - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6458

How fast is it? Tests from the gibhub show:

On a Raspberry Pi (ARM, no FPU):
Lame, 8minutes 53seconds:

pi@raspbmc:/tmp$ lame /tmp/bla.wav /tmp/bla.mp3
LAME 3.98.4 32bits (http://www.mp3dev.org/)
Using polyphase lowpass filter, transition band: 16538 Hz - 17071 Hz
Encoding /tmp/bla.wav to /tmp/bla.mp3
Encoding as 44.1 kHz j-stereo MPEG-1 Layer III (11x) 128 kbps qval=3
Frame | CPU time/estim | REAL time/estim | play/CPU | ETA
5763/5764 (100%)| 8:44/ 8:44| 8:53/ 8:53| 0.2871x| 0:00
kbps LR MS % long switch short %
128.0 47.8 52.2 98.1 1.2 0.7
Writing LAME Tag...done
ReplayGain: -4.9d

Shine, 47seconds:

pi@raspbmc:/tmp$ shineenc /tmp/bla.wav /tmp/bla.mp3
shineenc (Liquidsoap version)
WAV PCM DATA, stereo 44100Hz 16bit, Length: 0: 2:30
MPEG-I layer III, stereo Psychoacoustic Model: Shine
Bitrate=128 kbps De-emphasis: none Original
Encoding "/tmp/bla.wav" to "/tmp/bla.mp3"
Finished in 0: 0:47
The difference is quite remarkable!!

Impressive, I'd have transcoding off though on a Pi as its not really up to it other than on audio.

Re: Serviio on a RPi ? (Raspberry Pi)

Where files are remuxed (video untouched, audio transcoded), the RPi encoded with Shine should handle this when transcoding is on.
This way there will be more compatible files viewed (example .mkv videos for Bravia and PS3)

My plans for Serviio on RPi has been abandoned as i wanted a low cost running hardware to run Serviio 24/7
Opted for QNAP TS-121 - http://www.qnap.com/i/en/product/model.php?II=103, theres a cheaper TS-120
Costs £100 more than RPi but gives alot more grunt - 2Ghz ARM chip, alot more RAM to run Serviio smoothly and looks alot cooler!
Very low running costs - Only downside it doesnt do Video transcoding but with Shine encoder, remuxing is a breeze!

Re: Serviio on a RPi ? (Raspberry Pi)

I've got two RPi setup for family remuxing for Sony ok. I've not got benchmarks and agree Shine could help some situations but it works ok as is ...

I went self build, ITX Atom mobo £50, cheap case, stick of mem, 2tb HDD and Ubuntu. I liked the look of several NAS but ARM based didn't have the cpu grunt I needed and atom based NAS are so expensive for what you get v self build

Re: Serviio on a RPi ? (Raspberry Pi)

Hello,
I set up Serviio on RPI B version from wiki.
Java works, serviio also, i compiled ffmpeg.. it seems That it works. I manage everything from servidroid. The mp3 and jpeg files are recognized on the serviio folder. But the videos, .avi, are not recognized. I don't see them on serviigo neither on tv, even after several set up. Is there someone who could help me ?
Thanks in advance.
PS : sorry for my english but I'm french

Re: Serviio on a RPi ? (Raspberry Pi)

What version of java are you using? It's safe update to 8u73?

I'm using Raspberry Pi 2 with Java 8u65.
