Has there been progress with 0.6.1 release?

I do prefer this as the web UI of choice for my Linux server

Re: Web UI in PHP

As promised, here's the update to the base code of Web UI.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42061/serviio-webUI-0.6.1%20r1.zip

The changes are mostly to adhere to updated REST specs. I think you'll enjoy the update. I'm not perfect, so please inform me of any issues.

There are a couple changes that still need to be done:
1) add an enable/disable box on the online sources. They should default to enabled for now.
2) add an edit option to the online resources.
3) specifying source type of online source
4) basically refine how the online source list works. It needs work. :)
5) use the other cool features that zip has added to the REST featureset. Very nice updates to come.

Anyway, this should get you running. Expect more updates very soon. I'm going to work at being more diligent to provide updates.

Cheers,
Mark

Re: Web UI in PHP

Great Mark. Will it also work with the future 0.6.2 (no API changes, just in case you do some version matching)

Thankyou Mark for your efforts! :)

Very quick turnaround. Looking forward to the updates

@zip, theres a config.php file that you can edit the Serviio version otherwise its going to say "could not find server version 0.6.1 but found 0.6.2"

Re: Web UI in PHP

maybe it should include a list of compatible versions, ie 0.6.1, 0.6.2

Re: Web UI in PHP

The version validation is definitely a point of interest and have it on my radar to change. I like the option of stating a
Release range that webUI will work with (ie 0.6.1 thru 0.6.5). It isn't foolproof, but a good start. I'm certainly open to other ideas. I think a more active role of myself in testing beta versions will help. :)

Re: Web UI in PHP

Just noticed that the 0.6.2 release is a bug fix release and Zip wants to release it ASAP so I'll set my priorities accordingly.

Thats brilliant!

Are going to make it work for both 0.6.1 and 0.6.2?

First thing I did. The "solution" isn't necessarily what I want, but it doesn't add new requirements. Need to discuss with users if it would be acceptable to require SQLite (with option to use MySQL instead). This would give me some additional options.

Re: Web UI in PHP

Adding MySQL/SQLite can be messy for novice users. Most NAS service like mine has web server set up but not for SQL.

Why not make it for 0.6.2(should be out very soon), and advise users to change in config.php file for 0.6.1 users

Cerberus wrote:or use derby db

Good question. I've done some pretty extensive research and it appears there is no way for PHP to connect to Derby without loading the full DB2 client. Granted, I may be missing something and will be gladly accept correction if there is a way to do it without the requirement of the DB2 client. SQLite and MySQL drivers are included in standard Apache installations and wouldn't require someone to load additional software. With that said, I can't be 100% positive because QNAP users may have a mildly different Apache configuration. Before I took off in one direction, I wanted to do some due diligence and query everyone so as to not reduce the user base.

Your comments are much appreciated! Cheers,
Mark

Re: Web UI in PHP

My vote: keep it simple and faithful to original like you did with 0.6/0.6.0.1

so no to MySQL
