How to Get 3rd Party Apps using Unapproved "Market" devices.

How to Get 3rd Party Android Apps using Unapproved Market/Google Play Devices.

I have a Nextbook 7" Tablet which is not Google approved and so does not have "Market/Google Play" preinstalled. As a result I was unable to download ServiiDroid or ServiiGo which are distributed via "Market/Google Play". With the help of their author and others here is how I installed "Market" on my device and "Successfully Installed"

1. Download the gapps zip corresponding to the android version installed on your device, to your PC.
See the table at http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps#20110120
and get the zip from http://goo.im/gapps/
or for Nextbook 7 which has android 2.3.1 installed, use the download at http://www.mediafire.com/?ql9ba6vaja7lbj9
per http://gunnersbarn.wordpress.com/2011/1 ... premium-7/

2. Unzip the gapps zip and copy the 9 .apk files identified in "gunnersbarn" to your device download directory via SMB, USB connect or SD card.

3. On your device install each of the .apk files. If you get "Unable to Parse" messages it means you got the wrong zip file for your device.

4. Using android "Manage Applications", select "Market" and "Clear data".

5. Reboot your device and turn on WiFi.

6. Start up "Market" and sign in. It made me open a new account on "gmail"

Its really that simple!

Glad you got Google Play running. ;)
I definitely recommend upgrade to Android v4.x.x Ice Cream Sandwich which is much more suited for the screen size of your device. Also has benefits of using the must faster Chrome browser. ServiioDroid looks much cleaner too.
Cyanogenmod 9 probably the most popular ICS custom ROM available.
Sony Bravia 2010 52NX803 - Sony PS3 - Xbox 360
Serviio running on QNAP NAS 639 Pro - 1.6 Intel Dual Core - 2GB RAM and QNAP NAS 121 - 2Ghz ARM Marvell - 1GB RAM
Console using ServiiDroid for Android, ServiiMetro and ServiiWP for Windows Phone and WebUI for iOS

Re: How to Get 3rd Party Apps using Unapproved "Market" devi

You are referring to flashing my device which reprograms the ROM and can brick my device if not done correctly. The above instructions only install a new application (Google Market) on the existing device and in no way can impact the existing operation of users devices.

I'm quite happy with the current operation under Gingerbread(Android 2.3) and I note that the next generation of the Nextbook7 (SE) uses IceCream(Android 4) and performance comparisons are not positive...bigger, slower and clunckier!
