RAGE MUSIC VIDEOS - A VIDEO WEBRESOURCE

"Rage" is an all night music video program that has broadcast on Australian Broadcasting Corporation "ABC" TV on Friday and Saturday nights since April 1987.

On Friday nights Rage plays new release videos from midnight through 6am. On Saturday nights Rage has musicians as guest programmers who host the show and screen their favourite music videos. On some Saturday nights Rage has Specials that may feature one particular band or artist or be genre or concept specials.

Rage playlists are posted on-line prior to each show at http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist, and all playlists since 1989 are available. The link to any playlist may be copied by right clicking on the playlist date. The Saturday Night Specials are also catalogued by Guest name at http://www.abc.net.au/rage/guest and the link to any special may be copied by right clicking on "more about this guest/special". These links all have the form http://www.abc.net.au/rage/archive/snnnnnnn.htm

Due to copyright restrictions ABC can only post the music titles, rather than the music videos themselves. The site http://rage.d14n.org however provides a facility to create a YouTube RAGE Video playlists from any ABC titles playlist link. Simply open http://rage.d14n.org/form/add.html , paste in the link to the ABC playlist and submit the query. The YouTube RAGE Video playlist will be created, and added by date to the existing list of available RAGE YouTube Video playlists at http://rage.d14n.org. The link to that or any other previously created RAGE YouTube Video playlist may then be obtained by right clicking on the date and copying the shortcut which will be of the form http://rage.d14n.org/playlist/snnnnnnn . These shortcuts may then be added as Serviio On-line Video WebResources allowing playback of any RAGE YouTube Video playlist using the attached RAGE.groovy.

If a playlist number is not specified and the link is of the form http://rage.d14n.org or http://rage.d14n.org/playlist, the groovy will select the most recent date RAGE YouTube Video playlist from those available at http://rage.d14n.org

The groovy will also accept parameters for resolution and starting video number within the playlist. Note that the groovy will display the sequential number of the title in the ABC playlist but if a particular ABC playlist title has no YouTube match, that number will be skipped, but the requested number of selections will still be displayed. This may result in overlaps if the start parameter is used to display additional selections.

Resolution may be specified by res=nnnn where nnnn is 1080, 720, 480, 360 or 240. This allows quality to be matched to your available bandwidth. If no resolution is specified, the console quality will be used.

Start may be specified by start=nnn where nnn is the starting number within the playlist. This allows a multiple links to be created and the complete playlist to be played when the console value limits the number of items in each feed.

eg: http://rage.d14n.org/playlist/s3540478?res=720&start=21
