On serviio console, try to force "Toshiba" profile selected (click on profile name).
Could you enable detailed logging (see signature link) and post the result here ?

I had the same issue with 46TL868. The best Serviio profile for now is LG TV/Player (it disables transcoding at all).

Hi,

Just switched TV set to a Toshiba 55VL963F. It has latest firmware 6.9.ED.1
It seems current Toshiba REGZA profile is not appropriate for this set: generic profile seems better as first instance.
I tried to get info from Device spy, but Device spy can not detect this TV set.

Is DEBUG log supposed to provide similar info?
I did enable DEBUG, but could not find any meaningful info out of it.
Would be great if Serviio could do deliver such "spying" info.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
my TV is a 40TL963B, and as usual with this series of tv's it is not recognised by serviio or by the upnp tools.
by default it uses the Generic DNLA Profile, which works, apart from not being to play .avi's
when I change to the Toshiba Regza profile, I cant pause or fast forward the vid.
I've attached the DNLA certificate which hopefully you can use to create a profile for the TL series.
Thanks

great app by the way.....it is so much better then everything else that I've tried.

Could you try with this tools : http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=device_sf ?

You can try adding this at the end of ./serviio/config/profiles.xml, just before the </Profiles> element
EDIT: change id="Tosh2012"
  Code:
   <Profile id="Tosh2012" name="Toshiba 40TL963B" extendsProfileId="1">
      <Transcoding>
         <Video targetContainer="mpeg" targetACodec="ac3" targetVCodec="mpeg2video">
            <Matches container="avi" />
         </Video>
      </Transcoding>
   </Profile>

Thanks Illico, much appreciated.
Unfortunately upnp tools dont detect my TV, so I cant attach the sink file.
I added that to my config - I had to rename "Toshiba2012" to "Tosh2012", as there seem to be a 10 character limit to that field.
Now it can play .avi files - I even added .flv and those can play as well.......awesome.
The only problem is that these two new formats cant pause, fast forward etc. - although I still have full control over .mkv .mp4 .mpg etc.
I've looked through the config file and cant work out why. I assume that .mkv and .mp4 file are being transcoded, as they are not supported directly via the network media player on the TV, and I was going to mimic the .mkv settings in the .avi setup to allow pausing, but I cant work it out.
I'm so impressed with the app, that I'm going to buy a licence right now. This app deserves to be supported.
thanks again for the very fast response.

With this new "Tosh2012" profile, mkv are delivered in native format.

Not sure to understand...

With "Generic" profile or "Tosh2012" profile, mkv should be delivered in native format. Could you confirm that in tis way, mkv are ot supported ?

Hi Illico,
I've attached a section out of the user manual from my tv, which seems to say that the only formats supported over DMS are MPEG-2 PS and MPEG-2 TS. Every other format is supported over the USB port on the tv.
This is what I could not understand in the serviio config file - I couldn't see transcoding for .mkv and mp4, yet they work fine using the default profile.
i'm at work right now, so I cant test the tv, but I am sure when I disable transcoding .mkv and .mp4 stop working. I'll test this when I get home.

When you said "default profile", do you mean "Generic Profile" or default "Toshiba REGZA" profile ?

with "Generic Profile" --> mkv are delivered in native format (then with new Toshiba2012 profile too), so if you TV play mkv with these profiles, usermanual is ot uptodate.
with "Toshiba REGZA" --> mkv will be transcoded to mpegts/mpeg2video/ac3 format
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3" targetVCodec="mpeg2video">
<Matches container="matroska" />
</Video>

The best pratice is to use "Generic profile" and try to play sample files in most popular formats then check if they play fine or not, if no, create and edit a profile that transcode this format to one supported by the TV.

Sorry, I meant "generic profile". Everything seems to play well with this setting, except avi and flv. But with the "Tosh2012" addition these play now.
I think you are probably right, in that the manual is not up to date and has the wrong info.
Is there any way to get these transcoded avi files to pause - this is really the only problem I have now.
Thanks for all of the help, much appreciated.

Good.

Could you try with this profile:

  Code:
   <Profile id="Toshiba2012" name="Toshiba 40TL963B" extendsProfileId="1">
      <Transcoding>
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3" targetVCodec="mpeg2video">
            <Matches container="avi" />
            <Matches container="flv" />
         </Video>
      </Transcoding>
   </Profile>

I only change targetContainer="mpeg" to targetContainer="mpegts".
