You need to provide some specific information before anyone can help - what media file are you streaming (name of the file), is the sub titles in an external file (name of file must match name of media file) or embedded. Have you checked your manual/web to see whether the Toshiba supports subtitles and if it does, is it only for certain formats? Anything else that may help people....

Mostly .MKV
Subtitles both hard and soft( SRT, SUB etc) only baked in(the ones you wont be able to turn off, in any way) subs work.

I cant find anything about subtitles, but it has this subtitle button thingy on the remote :roll:

Without specific information on your TV, hard to troubleshoot. Chances are, if it supports subtitles over DLNA at all, it only does so on specific formats (eg. for AVI).

If not supported by your TV, then the only option is to burn them into the video. Try:

  • To play natively: The only thing I can suggest here is to ensure that the name of the subtitle file matches exactly the same as the name of the movie file. You could do a detailed log to see whether Serviio is serving up the subtitle file - if it is and your TV isn't playing it then that would indicate it isn't supported by the TV;
  • Burn the subtitles in: This requires transcoding so may result in stuttering if your CPU isn't up to it. Do so by enabling:
    - embedded subtitles
    - burned-in subtitles
    - and enter the subtitle language code of the subtitle track

    See http://www.serviio.org/index.php?option ... icle&id=33

That is probably related to subtitles in the broadcast TV stream / DVD - not DLNA.
