Could you check the h264 profile level of movies files with MediaInfo tools?

Re: Playable / unplayable m2ts files

This is probably due to the "8x8dct=1" Encoding option...
Could you compare with others files?

Re: Playable / unplayable m2ts files

What's your renderer device? Don't forget - assuming you're not transcoding, your renderer is decoding the file, not FFMPEG.

Serviio 2.1 package for Synology NAS - with limited hardware transcoding support!

Re: Playable / unplayable m2ts files

hah its can be true
i see differences in Writing library - Encode Settings/String.
*.m2ts files with x264 core 61 not playing. x264 core 66, 77 working propertly.
*.mkv files with x264 core 65, 85, 88, 102, 107, 110 is OK, 50 have artefacts

Thereform, problem is (in my example) with older than 66 *version of codec core.
I dont know which cell in chains is fail. TV, serviio :-/

Great! interesting,
Serviio with FFMPEG simply stream the video in native format without change the video codec.
So it seems that your TV x264 decoder is sensitive to the source codec core version (<65).
If I get time, I will check with my Sony Bravia EX500 renderer.

Re: Playable / unplayable m2ts files

I have found the same with my TV, a Panasonic TX-P42G20B
As pre discovered, it depends on the "Writing library".

plays well :
  Code:
hd_other_panasonic_rome_the_eternal_city.m2ts       x264 core 77 r1292kGIT e381f6d
hd_other_philips_ultimate_sharpness.m2ts            x264 core 66 r1114M a933a3e
hd_other_hdclub_the_gorgeous_ocean_world.m2ts       x264 core 77 r1292kGIT e381f6d
hd_other_lg_f1_monaco_2009.m2ts                     x264 core 77 r1292kGIT e381f6d
hd_other_pioneer_bahama.m2ts                        x264 core 77 r1292kGIT e381f6d
hd_other_pioneer_black_hole.m2ts                    x264 core 66 r1114M a933a3e
hd_other_samsung_led_motion.m2ts                    x264 core 77 r1292kGIT e381f6d
hd_other_samsung_modern_cityscapes_of_dubai.m2ts    x264 core 77 r1292kGIT e381f6d
hd_other_toshiba_new_zealand.m2ts                   x264 core 77 r1292kGIT e381f6d

plays with corruption :
  Code:
hd_other_samsung_the_beautiful_game.m2ts            ?
hd_other_panasonic_nature.m2ts                      ?
hd_other_pioneer_paris.m2ts                         ?
hd_other_samsung_summer_holiday.m2ts                ?

(mediainfo doesn't show a "Writing library" field for these files)

won't play :
  Code:
hd_other_panasonic_machu_picchu.m2ts                x264 core 61
hd_other_philips_formula_1.m2ts                     x264 core 61
hd_other_sony_foam_city.m2ts                        x264 core 61
hd_other_sony_seven_seasons.m2ts                    x264 core 61
hd_other_hitachi_the_colors_of_the_planet.m2ts      x264 core 61
hd_other_jvc_essence_of_sweets.m2ts                 x264 core 61
hd_other_jvc_football_dreams.m2ts                   x264 core 61
hd_other_jvc_new_york.m2ts                          x264 core 61
hd_other_panasonic_alaska_in_the_summer.m2ts        x264 core 61
hd_other_panasonic_a_night_in_the_milky_way.m2ts    x264 core 61
hd_other_panasonic_the_power_of_light.m2ts          x264 core 61
hd_other_pioneer_bateaux_mouches.m2ts               x264 core 61
hd_other_pioneer_destination_island.m2ts            x264 core 61
hd_other_sony_hd_experiment.m2ts                    x264 core 61
hd_other_sony_sydney_sky_walk.m2ts                  x264 core 61

Also I tried playing all these files from a USB stick plugged into the TV.
This gave the same results, confirming it's a feature of the TV, as expected.

Is there a way to convert these files (without losing any quality?) to a compatible format?
