DLNA Server confusion - why some of them can't play .mkv's?

My Samsung TV can stream .mkv video's from my Windows 7 PC running Serviio perfectly! However when my Samsung TV tries to stream the same .mkv from my Linksys E3000 (has a USB port for a hard drive and has a built-in DLNA server) the TV says something like "Not Supported Format". I don't understand this because the server can show you the file and the Samsung client can see the file (and I know the Samsung can play the file), but when the .mkv file is on my Linksys Media Server it can't play it. Any ideas?

most likely the built-in server doesn't send the proper Http headers (ones the Tv expects) when streaming the file
