Only thing worse than pan and scan is the great movies being made into horrible ones by the censors at the fcc. Either they take out cursing or pretty girls because idk some pilgrim kids buckle might fly off his hat. Worse than that though, is when they completely re edit a movie that's over 90 minutes to fit in their time slot and don't tell you. Then you see the movie properly later online or from paid for hard copy and like wtf, darth is Luke's father, they cut that out on channel 69. Those rat bastards! Broadcast tv and the entire media cartel needs to crash and burn and I think it is. News ratings have never been lower and theaters are closing faster than opening in usa. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say. The twentieth century is filled with enough cool movies I haven't seen yet that they could never make another sequel or remake or show turned movie or superhero crapfest again and I would be ok without donating another trillion to the cosbys and weinsteins and pivens and francos and spacys and the rest of those sociopaths who have enjoyed a century of never ending cash, victims, yes men to boost ego, and elite status everywhere. I am telling you guys, John Carpenter, Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Wes Craven, Harold Ramis, even John Hughes, they are never going to make this quality of movie for us again, those days and many of the people themselves are gone. I have to be in the right state of mind, but the older black and white movies with Peter Lorre and Humphrey Bogart, up to the 60s and Steve McQueen and Bruce Lee and Clint Eastwood, pretty much any movie with Paul Newman, you will never get this level again.
I am really getting into a thing here but a lot of people don't like Spike Lee for all these crazy reasons (I have always loved him and Quentin Tarantino and John Singleton and think their critics are out of touch ivory tower sitters), my point is no one is making films like this any more and thats mostly what I watch that and cartoons which who cares how hi res they are.
Only thing I wish I had a decent sized tv for are snowboarding movies. They always look better on a bigger tv.
