Naming multipart movie files

I am having problems figuring out how to name movies that are on multiple disks. For example, Titanic is on two disks, and both show up on my WDTV as simply Titanic. I have tried naming the files several ways, but both parts always show up as simply Titanic. Is there any way to name them so that the two parts show up giving me a clue as to which file is which part?
Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, searched for quite a while and could not find anything about it.
Thanks in advance for any help, and thank you for the great software.

Probably best thing to do is join the two parts into one movie.
I've done this myself using Nero Vision, with a couple dvd's a had ripped to my hdd.
I'm sure there are plenty other apps out there that can do this. Including free ones.

Titanic (cd 1)
Titanic (cd 2)
or as pmi said join the files with mkvmerge

Eventually that is what I want to do (Combine them), but some are harder than others. For example, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy has three two disk movies. I think I could combine the two disks for each movie together, but cannot combine the three movies together. Currently all 6 parts show up the same.
I have them named like this currently:
Fellowship of the Ring (1).m4v
Fellowship of the Ring (2).m4v
Return of the King (1).m4v
Return of the King (2).m4v
The Two Towers (1).m4v
The Two Towers (2).m4v

If all the different lord of the rings films come up the same, make sure you use the full name including (YEAR) e.g. (2000) at the end based on what is shown on themoviedb.org
E.g. once you have combined the pairs
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
I think that should do it.

Don't know why I did not think of that. Thanks for that Will and Cerberus. I have successfully merged two files together into one kmv file using mkvmerge as suggested. Some of the file pairs did not work, because the frame size was slightly different on the two parts. I believe I can fix that by running one half back through handbrake and set the frame size.
Problem now is that I cannot seem to get them to play on the WDTV Live box through Serviio. Using XBMC through Serviio seems to work fine, and the WDTV Live box can play the file if I mount the drive directly to the box. Need to look into it further, but just have not had time for a while.

I thought I posted this a while ago, but must have not hit submit. Can anybody tell me if this output from ffmpeg helps decypher why this mkv file will not play on my WDTV Live box through Serviio?

Hi,
may i reactivate this thread?
I'm still struggling with rips of movies like the old of the rings.
it does not show up on my samsung TV via "video" share .. i need to go to folders to find the mkv files of part 1 and 2
Is there a correct way of naming the movie files to make it work?
normally i rename the files with filebot to match the imdb naming.
afterwards i download fan art like posters and stuff with mediaElch.
after rescanning the movie folder and the meta data in serviio it shows all movies correctly.
how can i integrate the multipart movies ?
thank you for help.

I just happened to create some multi-part videos this morning. I made an error the first time I named them, but figured it out. Remember that you need the Pro version of Serviio for multi-part videos to be stacked.
The files have to be in the same folder. They can't be somewhere else to my understanding. Here's the naming convention I used:
Invasion (1997) Part1.mkv
Invasion (1997) Part2.mkv
Notice there is no space between the work "Part" and the number. I first had a space, and they did not stack. Removing the space fixed it.
See this page for more detailed information:
