Folks - this might be a shot in the dark but if nothing else changed in your config and suddenly doesn't work like before then it might be worthwhile to check if your security software (Anti virus, firewall, etc.) is blocking something. This stuff usually gets updated automatically without user intervention...

I had Kaspersky in my old media server configuration and after some updates (I suspect when they updated the executable not just the virus definition files) it would erroneously flag my TV as a network DDOS attack on the media server PC and block it from connecting to the media server. The network DDOS protection was a bit too sensitive :-)
I had to manually go into the Kaspersky and allow for that connection.

Hope this helps someone here.

Hi, seems like the new version 1.3 solved the problem for me. Thanks. :)

Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm desperate!

Thanks

Hi,
I don't speak English well then I am going to make the shortest possible, and sorry if this solution was already given :

I solved the problem of disconnected by modifying the path of the temporary files in tab : Delivery / Transcoding / transcoded files location.
Indeed, during the reading of files .mkv the space for the created temporary file was insufficient on the partition chosen by default (C:/Windows/temp) and Serviio stopped.
(The file log of serviio indicates : av_interleaved_write_frame(): No space left on device)

I then simply indicated a folder on a partition having more free space, and it works.

Maybe that it can help somebody.

Big thanks for your work and this very useful tool
:)

I got fed up on my TV disconnecting but my Xbox 360/PS3 never did this so thought its a TV wifi hardware problem.

I bought this instead - http://www.netgear.co.uk/N900
And never had a disconnection since day one, two months now and not one disconnect.
Probably it works better as i have a Netgear Router. Just search for Ethernet bridge.

This hardware also uses the faster 450mps N Wifi which upgrades my slow PS3 slow wireless G connection so no buffer issues too!! :D

You can connect upto 4 ethernet devices to work well for Serviio.

I have the same problem. Local files and Online RSS/Atom feed played perfectly. Web Resources interrupted play after 23 minutes. Who can help me?

That is probably related to the feed source / conection quality / content quality. As all your other streaming doesn't have any problems.

I'm running a WD router and I am now with the last two versions of Serviio getting disconnects while playing out video files from my computer (Win7) through my router to my DirecTV DVR HR-21. Everything plays great and then ti playback stops and there is a freeze of the last frame of video, and then a message comes up saying the steam stopped. The DVR then goes back to whatever channel it is tuned to. When I try to replay the file, I get a message saying the file is unaccessible. I try another file and it loads and plays ok. I then stop and try the file that had the disconnect and it will play out now but the quit again after 30 minutes. Frustrating, especially when trying to watch a 42-minute episode...

I have gone through the settings listed in the topic link above and that did not help. Any ideas?

Hello,

I have had a look at my router settings which is a talktalk HG533 and cant find any multicasting options I have attached my DLNA settings and IGMP can anyone tell me if IGMP V3 could be the issue? My router has options to change it to V1/V2 not sure if this would make a difference, I also could not find any option for IPv6.

Cheers

I haven't played with IGMP myself, but if I understand the protocol correctly it is used to manage multiple multicast groups on a network, I never really needed something like this with my small home network.

I could be wrong but it seems like your devices need to be part of the same IGMP group in order to participate in or listen to multicast with each other...
IGMP is a router protocol so I am not sure if your non-router devices need to be "IGMP aware" in order to properly participate or it is just enough for the router to manage it, however based on how IGMP is implemented on your router it could actually be filtering out some devices on your network by having them in groups.

What happens if you turn IGMP off?

Alternatively - if IGMP membership is user configurable on the router you could manually add all of your devices to the same IGMP group and that should work.

If you have additional routers on the network - they really should be IGMP aware in order to work properly.

You would think that this problem was solved after 3 years, but it is still there.
Some times works for 3 - 4 hours and then sometimes it goes off every 3-10 min. and it is just Serviio all other works fine. Did all the settings.

I had the same problem and after digging on other forums I realized it was a power management problem of the PC. First of all, to my surprise, it seems like the concepts of "sleeping" and "hard disk off" are 2 different things (on Win 7). It seems that even though Serviio prevents the PC from sleeping, it can't prevent the hard disk from turning itself off after 20 minutes of inactivity. So when I looked at the power management settings, I saw that I had it configured to never sleep when the cable was plugged in. But when I clicked on advanced power settings, I had a setting to turn hard disk off after 20 minutes of inactivity. I changed that to "Never" and no more disconnections since then.

hi all,
Facing also the pb in object...
I'm using a Ds415+ with ps3 (serviio 1.4.1.2 - dsm 5.1), and after about 20-30mn, the flow is broken.
Having a look in the logs:
2015-02-15 21:28:10,198 WARN [ProcessExecutor] Process /volume1/@appstore/Serviio/bin/ffmpeg has a return code of 1! This is a possible error. Detailed output follows.
frame= 8707 fps=5804 q=-1.0 size= 221052kB time=00:05:48.35 bitrate=5198.4kbits/s
frame=11260 fps=5630 q=-1.0 size= 293939kB time=00:07:30.52 bitrate=5344.7kbits/s
frame=14741 fps=5896 q=-1.0 size= 356875kB time=00:09:49.69 bitrate=4957.7kbits/s
frame=16773 fps=5080 q=-1.0 size= 430368kB time=00:11:11.04 bitrate=5253.9kbits/s
av_interleaved_write_frame(): No space left on device

Seems indeed there is a space pb... The transcoding folder refers to var/@tmp... Seems this one could have insufficient space in it...
So, how to solve this pb?
1) possible to raise the size of /var/@tmp at a good level? (how?)
2) refer to another folder with the good permissions?

regards

I think the Synology build uses a different temp folder than the default one, to give it more space. Otherwise you can change the temp transcoding folder in the console anyway.

Thank's for reply zip!
Had a look again to how to from patters, saying to refer to /volume1/@tmp (don't know why it was pointing to /var/@tmp), and since it seems to be ok

After three weeks of trying all the router settings in this post, trying cabled 5ghz, 2.4 ghz, downgrading to 1.5 then 1.3.1, re installing Java, trial and error with different startup devices, removing all devices except the LG tv and the streaming device I am giving up.

I have used Serviio for 5-7 years (somewhere in between) and had no problems but after upgrading to 1.5.2 with no network changes it keeps now dropping off constantly some changes have made the drop offs more often and sometimes it seems around the 30 minute mark.

I am an IT senior consultant and am pretty sure that this is a fundamental flaw in the Serviio product code. Maybe the changes in this post have helped work around a problem for some people but I feel an undercurrent or an issue with the product exists. At the very least some mechanism is required that does not currently exist should be telling us where the core disassociation or drop off exists.

I have today installed Plex and everything is working normally again with my network, router, firewall and switch all back to where they were before the upgrade to 1.5.2.

I recommend anyone that has this problem to try Flex as it works.

Signing off from Serviio unfortunately frustrated.

Same here, I've tried everything. I think SERVIIO is a very good server, but I'm fed up with this 30 minutes issue.

Moving to "the other media server ".

Try to bind the network interface to a IP manually.. This worked for me...
