How do renderers choose output resolution?
So i have 2 renderers Panasonic VT30a and a Sony BDP580
They both have their pros and cons i like to avoid transcoding because my server has low cpu power. My biggest issue is resolution.
For some files the TV will stretch a 21:9 video to 16:9 which results in tall people and egg shaped spheres. Transcoding seems to fix it most of the time to m2ts which is quick enough in most cases but then subtitles don't work.
Has anyone else experienced this? What sets this and can you mod the file prior so it plays at the correct resolution?
