MKV doesn't tell us anything. MKV is a container, and it can hold numerous audio and video codecs. While I believe the WDTV supports the majority of codecs, we still need to know what is inside the MKV.

Did it play with previous versions of Serviio, or is this a new installation?

Re: IT BLOCKS

MKV is the format of a movie. The Serviio version I am using is the free one, and I never had it before. My problem is not with the format (I can see the movie) but after 15 minutes the movie gets interrupted. It just stops playing. Maybe are there some limitations in the free version I get?
Thanks in advance for your support

Re: IT BLOCKS

No, there's no limitation to the free version in this respect. The Pro version mainly deals with the browser based MediaBrowser and internal access to some APIs for 3rd party program access.

Again, MKV is not a format, it is a container. There is a wide variety of possible video and audio codecs within it. We need to know what those codecs are. You can use a program such as MediaInfo (Windows) to retrieve the information, or from a command line using ffmpeg.

If your video contains HD audio, I have seen them play for a bit then crash/stop playback with a playback error message. That's why we need to know the codecs involved. If the file looks like it should play, then we'll move to a detailed debugging log. Instructions for that can be found in the link in my sig line.
