movies title with special characters

Hello,
I am using the 1.8 version
Some french movies are declared as unknow file type: e.g
commando de l'ombre.avi
or
war inc (...).avi

Is it a problem of accents or ponctuation ?
How to fix that ?

Re: movies title with special characters

Look up your specific title on The Movie Database (themoviedb.com) and see specifically how they word the title. Also use the year in parenthesizes that matches what they have. I've found cases where the movie db differed from IMDB.

I tried different writings but nothing change.
However, when I look in the properties the tab details I note that the video fields and the audio fields are empty !

Re: movies title with special characters

The information you see in the properties tab isn't used. Serviio goes to online databases (default setting) to get metadata. But like I said, the file name has to match the name in the online database, preferably with the release year in the file name.

Re: movies title with special characters

I'm confused - can you find the movie under the Video, Folders Category (navigating to the appropriate folder) in Serviio. Does it play from there?

If not, it's likely nothing to do with file name (confirm by copying the file and renaming it to something simple eg cat.avi). Post MediaInfo details for the file (ps I assume it plats on your PC?)

Re: movies title with special characters

No I cannot find the movie and I cannot play it.
You are right: I guess it is not a serviio problem ...

MediaInfo gives nothing:
General
Complete name : C:\Users\jpc\Downloads\films\War,inc.avi
File size : 691 MiB

I just checked the Movie DB, and this title is listed, with a release year of 2008. It's also listed on IMDB. So, here's two suggestions for naming the file

1: war,inc (2008).avi
2: war,inc tt0884224.avi

The second one uses the IMDB title index, and should almost guarantee finding the name in the online database.
