Version 1.8 problems with Windows Home Server

Hi,
I have a Tranquil SQA-5H Windows Home Server. I have just updated to version 1.8 of Serviio. Nothing now works. When I try to run the Serviio Console is not a valid Win32 bit application. I assume my server is 32 bit and mabe the problem is that this new version is 64 bit. However I did not see anything about this in the release notes requirements. If this is the case, can I revert to a 32 bit version? If not, can you help with any other advice?
My licence file is named : Serviio_5bf3a99af0dd4a938e55bec94df35c31.lic
Thanks,
Vic Russell

Re: Version 1.8 problems with Windows Home Server

Windows Home Server is most likely 64 bit. I know mine is. But I don't run Serviio on that particular computer.

I believe you are attempting to use a shortcut to something that no longer exists. Serviio console no longer has a dedicated application, but instead has a wrapper that opens a web browser. You don't even need to use that. On your server, just open http://localhost:23423/console. You can also access it from any other computer on your network by changing "localhost" to either the server name or IP address.

Serviio is not a 64 bit application, so there's no need to revert to a different version.

Is Serviio itself still running, i.e. can you access your media from a player on your network?

Re: Version 1.8 problems with Windows Home Server

Thank you for that atc98092.
I can now get the web based console as you suggested. All seems OK there and I can see that Serviio has found the music, video and picture files. However, my Samsung TV reports that it cannot find any files even though it lists Serviio as a server. In addition, my Windows Media Player does not list Serviio as it used to. Any ideas? Thanks. Vic.

Re: Version 1.8 problems with Windows Home Server

Hi Dan,
Further information: My Sony Blue Ray player can see Serviio and play files. My Samsung TV can see Serviio but says there are no files to play. My Windows Media Player on my Win 10 PC cannot see Serviio at all. Although the Sony can see and play the files, things work really slowly; i.e. when switching between albums, artists etc.

Re: Version 1.8 problems with Windows Home Server

Check to see which profile is assigned to your Samsung TV. They don't always get the correct profile assigned, and the wrong profile could impact what's available. Also, if you look in the Folder view I think it will show titles regardless of if Serviio thinks it can be played.

I don't see any performance issues with my Sony BD player, but it's usually the wife that uses it. If it was acting up, I'm sure I'd hear about it!

Re: Version 1.8 problems with Windows Home Server

Thanks for all that. I do not understand the Samsung profile bit. I don't seem to have any profiles set up in Serviio for particular TVs. I have found that I can connect to Serviio about 1 in 20 times through the TV. Once connected it all seems OK.

I now have the solution. I chose another Samsung profile. It had chosen the correct one according to my model year (2010) but I found that a much later one worked fine. Thanks Dan for the suggestion.

Yep, profiles can be a bugger. Notice how many Sony profiles there are, trying to cover the variances between them. Glad you found one that works for you! :D
