Local playlists in Serviio

Good morning everyone,
Im a little bit confused. I've been using Serviio for years to watch my movies on several devices. Everything is fine. So it is for music, mp3-files.
Now I wanted to enhance file availability and include Playlists for my mp3Files. Local and networkshare only!
I added the folder "\\media\music\Playlists" containing playlists and I also tried to add as local "G:\music\Playlists". No matter what I add to librbay. Playlists are not added. No matter which playlist-format - PLS, M3u, m3u8.
Nothing. If I view MediaBrowser -> Audio -> Playlists. It's empty. If I view Audio->Folders->Playlists. It's empty.

Still working fine for mp3 and movie files. So Serviio itself is working.

How do I have to add playlists to access them through Serviio?

Re: Local playlists in Serviio

I use playlists in the PLS format with no issues. It's possible that your playlist isn't formatted correctly to locate the media files. I'm not home right now, but I believe I had to configure my playlist software (Playlist Creator for Windows) to use absolute (complete) file paths for the media. Also, I don't have my playlists in a separate folder. I just have them in one of my shared folder locations. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Re: Local playlists in Serviio

Ahh..yes atc..u r right. thank you.

Seems that the playlist must contain absolute path, must contain local filepath and must be in the same folder as mp3-files. Then it works.
Well..that's not very good.
Why can't Playlists contain network-shares? And...IF they have to contain absolute pathes...why do the playlists still have to be in the same folder?
I think I need to use another dlna/upnp software for playlists then.

So if the playlists have to be in the same folder as the mp3-files...That means every mp3-file on the list has to be in the same folder. means...No different mp3-folders. Very strange....All mp3 in one folder..

So if it's not only me being too stupid to use it correctly - It's not very useful this way.
But thanks anyway :-)

Re: Local playlists in Serviio

I didn't mean that all of the media files have to be in the same folder as the playlist. My playlists are all contained in a single folder, but they reference file folders across multiple hard drives. As far as network shares, I've never played with them but would expect a full network path should work.

Re: Local playlists in Serviio

hm.. didn't get it to work with network share, although I used absolute path in playlists like

\\Media\music\albumtitle\songtitle.mp3 & \\192.168.1.30\music\albumtitle\songtitle.mp3
Same playlist works fine with other tools.
Tried IP and DNS

Re: Local playlists in Serviio

Have to let Zip or someone with more experience respond now. I would think that would work. I am assuming you can access and play the networked media from the other areas, such as Titles.

Did you already enable detailed logging to try catching more info?
Cheers.

ZIp is actually very good providing support. But he is Serviio. There is no "company", he does it all. So that's why we here in the forum do our best to assist.

Re: Local playlists in Serviio

It should work with relative paths and network paths as well. You just have to share the folders that the media files are in as well.

so if the playlist includes \\1.1.1.1\music\a.mp3 you have to as well share \\1.1.1.1 or \\1.1.1.1\music

If you enable detailed logging and add a playlist file, it should tell you if/why the entry was not found.
