Re: Serviio not refreshing

I've noticed this happening recently. I'm running 1.9 pro and after searching for this issue realized it was resolved with 1.92. I'll check that out. Hopefully it solves the problem.

Reporting back.. this is still happening. When I open the console, the first thing it does is show a notification regarding an image being added, so it could be something to do with sharing images. Maybe it's hanging up on images which causes the indexing to stall. Whatever the case, it needs to be manually refreshed. A bug for sure.

Try to increase memory of the server by adding / updatind -Xmx property http://serviio.org/index.php?option=com ... e&id=21#q3

to something like (you choose the memory value)

-Xmx 500M

Thank you for the response. I've increased the memory to 1024. I tried 2048 but the service could not be started. I have plenty of RAM, so not sure what's causing that unless it's something to do with 32/64 bit. I'll report back after a few weeks of testing.

After making the suggested changes, I added a few videos today and checked tonight on my TV and the server hadn't updated. When I open the app it takes a second to populate the number referencing the amount of videos/images, and then I start seeing notifications for content being added. After doing this, the new content shows when accessing via the TV via DLNA. Not sure what's getting triggered when the app opens, but the Windows service doesn't seem to be doing it on its own.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

Hello I seem to be having the same problem with version 1.10.1.

I re-installed the software and it seems to work for a while and then the service stops. It manages to index a good portion of the specified library but then the service won't remain started. Not sure what is happening. Clicking Library Refresh stops the service. The only way the service works is when this is unchecked.

I moved the files to a different location and the service seemed to start again but then it stopped. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

I have seen instances where one file will cause the indexer to fail.

Enable debug logging, force refresh and then, when it fails, examine the log. See if you can work out if it as always happening with one particular file or folder.

Remove the offending file/folder from the library for now. Try again (there may be more than one). Once you are able to successfully fully index your library we can look at any files that caused issues.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

I'm also seeing this issue with 1.10.1 Pro
When I do a force refresh it picks up the new files, but it doesn't automatically. Running Windows 8.1

It used to work fine with 1.8 builds without any issue, this after with 1.9 and has been there ever since. A simple force refresh fixes it, looks like the filesystem notifications don't seem to be working consistently with 1.9 and newer builds. Not sure but am thinking it's not handling an exception property and moving onto the next file or something.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

Well after about 4 years I'm having this problem again. I've updated my Mac to macOS Sonoma and Serviio is not refreshing on any of the my devices. I have a Roku, a Samsung TV and LG TV. So what I do is I add a file to a folder. Usually it updates automatically and shows up instantly after it updates. Now I have to hit force refresh. I see the file I've added on the top right corner of Serviio. I go to the devices and nothing. I stop the server and start it again, but now it doesn't show on the devices. I restart the Mac and sometimes it shows on the first try, but sometimes I have to restart 2-3 times. Other times I have to unplug the devices' power in order it to get it back. I'm guessing it has to do with Serviio since it's happening on all 3 devices.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

Hello, I had the same problem on Windows 11 Pro (Version 10.0.22621.2861) with Serviio 2.3
I tried deleting all the shared library folders and sharing them again, but since then I still have zero files on the status screen.
I also tried to uninstall and new install the Serviio, but without success.
Shared folder is from local SSD (drive D:) and I also tried both method of monitoring shared folder NORMAL and POLLER.

Debug log not show any problem.
There is a part of log. Log begins after shared folder changed from POLLER to NATIVE polling method:

Re: Serviio not refreshing

The problem still persists.
I can't share anything through Serviio. Music, video or photos. I have 0 files for all of them.

I try to uninstall Serviio, delete folder from User's folder AppData\Roaming\Serviio-Console-Wrapper and install once again, but not work.
I also tried reinstalling the Java Runtime.
The TV sees the DLNA server Serviio.
Serviio console shows the IP address of the TV, but even if I have set up folder sharing with content, Serviio still shows zero files.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

Paolo, remove the exclamation mark in your folder name. I seem to remember that Serviio will ignore files/folders that begin with a !. Notice the log entry that says "Folder 'D:\!Filmy' is being ignored".

Re: Serviio not refreshing

I tried it, but without success.

I was have Serviio working in Windows 11 PC with about five folders beginning with exclamation mark shared.
I once set up a library to share a folder with files from movie camera (about 4 thousand files in one folder). Serviio worked for a long time and displayed about first 3000 of files only.
At this moment Serviio has stoped reading files from folders.
I tried removing all shares from the Serviio console and after this point I can't share anything.

I tried reinstalling java. I tried uninstalling Serviio, deleting all folders in the user profile that have serviio in the name, but nothing helped.

I'm sorry for late reply, but I hoped, that i will be notified about new posts in topic, where i written post.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

I have a new information about Serviio and not loading files from shared folders.
I tried to share some folder from another drive and it works.
When I make a new folder at the original drive (D:) and copy in the filder some video files then nothing happends.
When I do the same on another drive (E:) then Serviio shows the same files.
I also tried change the attached letter of original drive to F: but without success. Serviio don't read any files from shared folders from this drive.

I setup debug logging and in serviio.log I found:
[LibraryOneTimeScanner] Folder 'D:\!Filmy' is being ignored
I also try another name:
[LibraryOneTimeScanner] Folder 'D:\Filmy2' is being ignored

But folder "E:\!!z kamery do TV" works fine
2024-02-02T21:42:25,207 DEBUG [MediaFileIndexer] Found file 'E:\!!z kamery do TV\02263.MTS', checking if it's already in the Library

2024-02-02T21:42:25,208 DEBUG [MediaItemDAOImpl] Media item E:\!!z kamery do TV\02264.MTS already exists in DB

D: and E: are booth local drive, booth with NTFS filesystem, booth with same (default) permissions.

Re: Serviio not refreshing

Today i solved the problem with not loading video, photos and music files from my local drive D:

I wanted to change UUID od the drive. I made a copy all files and folders to the USB device. When I compared that all of them are successfully backuped then i found a file ".nomedia" in a root folder.
I deleted him and Serviio works with drive D: without problems now.

Ah, that would certainly do it. Great job finding that file!

Re: Serviio not refreshing

It's a shame that debug mode doesn't report that it's ignoring files on disk because it found a .nomedia file.
This would have solved the problem two months ago without so many uninstalls and new installs.
