Overloaded serviio server?

Hi,

I'm new to serviio and I'm struggling...

I have the serviio server running on a raspberry pi 3B and made it index my music collection, stored on a NAS, connected via NFS. that library is rather large, containing >33.000 songs in 765 folders on the top level.
it took ~2 days for serviio to index everything (until the serviio console showed 33135 items in the audio section).

but now I'm unable to access that data. no matter how I connect to serviio via upnp (Windows explorer, Android Bubble upnp), I'm presented with the selection Audio/Image/Video, but when I select Audio, in the best case I get a timeout, in the worst case I get nothing.

on the raspi, I can see the java process consuming CPU (~390%, so consuming all cores) for several minutes, but that's it... this is the set of error messages in the log for today:

2018-08-12 08:07:15,901 WARN [RendererManager] Error while retrieving renderer description from http://192.168.6.42:49152/description.xml: Read timed out

2018-08-12 11:18:41,098 WARN [EventDispatcher] Error 400 received from event subscriber

just to compare, a twonky server on a different raspi is able to handle the same music library.

anything I can tweak to make serviio work in my environment?

Re: Overloaded serviio server?

you could try to give it more memory, ependingt how much the Pi has - it's the -Xmx parameter in serviio.sh

Re: Overloaded serviio server?

tried that. didn't make a difference. Not usable in my environment. raspi too weak or simply too much data.
I switched to readymedia/ minidlna now.

Re: Overloaded serviio server?

Hey sthones, just wondering how big of a memory card you had in the pi? I'm running serviio on a pi 2 and I also have a big music collection (about 28,000 songs) and it's been working fine. I did have an issue with the memory card when I first installed it. The original card was 8GB and internally the pi reported it had run out of space, so I moved the OS to a 16GB card and use raspiconfig to expand the disk space and it's been working fine ever since.

One difference is I have my storage local to the pi and not on a NAS. I share off my 3 folders (video, music, pictures) via SMB from the pi. The media is stored on a USB drive local to the pi and backed up to a 2nd local usb drive. I DON'T have transcoding enabled as I had read the pi didn't have the power to support it.
