Can't display videos listes by Genres

Hello there,
First of all, thank you for this fantastic software. I am streaming videos only from a Win 7-based PC to an iPad running VLC. The only problem I have is I can't access my videos listed per genre after I choose to display the said category within the presentation tab of Serviio on my PC. The Genre folder that appears on my iPad contains a subfolder entitled Unknown in which there is a list of all my videos.
Can somebody help me out?
Thank you.

Re: Can't display videos listes by Genres

How are you getting your metadata? Is it from the Internet, or using NFO files, or something different? It sounds like Serviio isn't getting the metadata it needs to determine the genre.

Re: Can't display videos listes by Genres

I used a software called Mp3Tag to ascribe custom genres to my videos--I don't want to use metadata from the internet--.I can see these custom genres when I open the video files on iTunes or MediaMonkey. But I can't see them when I'm using Serviio.

Re: Can't display videos listes by Genres

It should work in 1.10 - at least for some file types, like mp4/mov.

Re: Can't display videos listes by Genres

All my videos are either in mp4 or m4v and none of their custom genres appear. Also, my library is quite extensive (3400+ videos whose size varies between under 1Go and 4Go max).

Do you mean I need to wait for the 1.10 version? If so, when it's planned for release?

Thank you.

Re: Can't display videos listes by Genres

It's still on working with the 1.10 version: in the genre folder on my tablet, there is still one folder called Unknown that lists my whole library. As if none of my videos had genres--which is not the case. Any help?

Try to remove and add a file again. The files will have to be reindexed

Re: Can't display videos listes by Genres

Thank you it works! Only thing is there seems to be a problem with special characters and accents:
- it won't display the long dash "—" I use to index the release years of each of my films in its title: eg 2010—Inception (Christopher Nolan)
- foreign language-titled films with accents are all garbled: eg 1972—La Bête (XXX)

Re: Can't display videos listes by Genres

Should I do something in my parameters to get that corrected?
