Installed 1.10 - No sound on Roku

I installed Serviio 1.10, now there's no sound whenever I play any file on Roku. I used to have sound for all files before the upgrade, now none of them have sound. Also my Sony TV built in media player plays the files with sound. So, there's something about the Serviio Roku combination that's not right ever since I upgraded to Serviio 1.10

I'm running Windows Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134

Roku Media Player 4.1 build 1609

Roku software version 8.1.0

When I tried ffmpeg.exe -i "Trading Places.mp4" I got this:

  Code:
  libavutil      54. 19.100 / 54. 19.100
  libavcodec     56. 26.100 / 56. 26.100

Re: Installed 1.10 - No sound on Roku

When I play a file on Roku, ffmpeg.exe takes up 87% of my CPU, so I assume it's transcoding.

I'm playing on a Roku Model 4620X Roku Premier

Here's what's in my log when I'm playing from the Roku:

Re: Installed 1.10 - No sound on Roku

It appears you are using the generic Roku profile, which transcodes far more than necessary for recent Roku models. Which model Roku do you have? And I don't mean just the name, as there are multiple versions of the Roku 2 and Ultra, just as an example. Once I know which model you have, I can suggest which profile you should be using.

Based on the FFMPEG info you provided, that video should play just fine on the newer boxes. But you have 5.1 AAC audio, which Roku does not support. I'm pretty sure that is captured on the more specific Roku profiles, and the audio is transcoded to 5.1 AC3. When just transcoding audio, your CPU usage should be quite low, well under 30% usually. So once we figure out your Roku model, we'll get you on the right profile.

4620X - Roku Premier, is that what you are looking for or do you need more info?

Nope, that's what I needed. You should be OK with the "Roku 4K Media Player (2016+)" profile. I also believe that the Premiere has the new support for MPEG2 video, so if you have some of those you could try the "Roku 4K Media Player w/MPEG2" profile.

However, looking at the profiles, I see that while I am not capturing multi-channel AAC audio, except in one profile. Don't know how I overlooked that, but I'll get an update to Zip for the next version when he starts working on it. For now, if you choose the "Roku 1080 Media Player (2016+)" profile, your multi-channel AAC will be converted to 5.1 AC3 at a bitrate of 512 kbps. It will transcode any 4K video you have, if any. I'll get the other profiles updated to capture AAC for transcoding and post the updates here in the forum.

Thanks. That works. I have sound and ffmpeg isn't running in the background taking up most of my CPU.

Glad it's working for you. :)

By the way, Serviio 1.10.1 has been released, and the Roku profiles have been updated a little. Captures a couple of codecs that were overlooked.
