HOWTO: Provide details of an unrecognized video file
In a case a video file is not recognized by Serviio (i.e. you cannot see it on your device) please take these steps to figure out what's going on.
- Make sure you give Serviio enough time to index all your files. This may take considerable amount of time if you are sharing a lot of files
- If you are using Linux-based OS, make sure your FFmpeg is up-to-date. If not, compile one using source files on the download page.
- Check serviio.log file for a list of added files and confirm it is (or is not) in the list
- Check if the file is visible in MediaBrowser
- If you don't have the Pro license (with MediaBrowser), download Intel UPnP tools instead and run AV Media Controller. Select Serviio and try to find the file you're looking for using this tool's browsing function. If the file is there it means Serviio registered the file byt for some reason your device doesn't display it. This could be due to the fact your device doesn't support the format or it does but doesn't understand the format in the way Serviio is serving it (this could be fixed by creating a Profile for the device)
- If the file is not visible using the tools above, provide the technical info of the file
